Tri-Marium as the ‘emancipation’ of East-Central Europe: framing European counter-narratives in Poland

The historical notion of Inter-Marium captured Poland’s centuriesold concept of integrating, in a form of confederation, the new states that appeared on the map between the Baltic and Black Seas after 1918. Reincarnated as the contemporary narrative of Tri-Marium, this notion is gaining new momentum and has been most visible in Poland, the largest state of the European Union’s Eastern semi-periphery. This article examines Inter-Marium as one of the most clearly articulated counter-narratives to the mainstream European integration project. Counter-Narratives Against Prejudice. How Second-Generation Youth Reverse Media Representations

This paper deals with the OLTRE project (ISF - DG Migration and Home Affairs, EU), funded to counter the radicalization of second-generation migrants in Italy and created by a network made up of universities and private companies. This article shows the results of a study regarding the involvement of second-generation youth in the co-production of the social campaign for online communication, representing the outcome of the OLTRE project. Eat or Be Eaten: Psychological and Bodily Violence in Michèle Roberts’s Reworking of Fairy-Tale Cannibalism

This paper focuses on Robertsʼs counter-narrative “The Cookery Lesson” and the theme of fairy-tale cannibalism. While questioning the representation of the cannibalizing and the cannibalized bodies through the analysis of the sensuous language describing the desire-violence nexus, we shall take into account the ways in which the narrative form is affected in the passage from traditional fairy tale to contemporary short story, not only as concerns the representation of characters but also as regards the use of narrative voices and narrative strategies recalling the oral origins of fairy tales.
