Applying systematic review search methods to the grey literature: a review of education and training courses on breastfeeding support for health prof…
2021
Abstract Background Currently, lactation training courses aimed at health professionals are important for informing and supporting mothers who are breastfeeding. In this review, we seek to analyze similarities and/or variations in course content, modes of delivery, costs, teaching style and learning strategies among courses. To our knowledge, a review of lactation training courses available worldwide is lacking. Thus, the aim of this review is to describe course models aimed at training health professionals in lactation support for mothers. Methods Through searching grey literature, training courses were obtained from several directories, including the Alaska Breastfeeding Coalition, Intern…

Media, Power and Identity. Discursive Strategies in Ideologically-Oriented Discourses
2018
This book represents the third noteworthy product of the International Research Network MEMITÀ - “Memory, Identity, Integration to identify analysis models in media communication” (www.memita.scienzeumanistiche.eu). The most ambitious goal of MEMITA’ Network, by means of the produced reflections, is, perhaps, to facilitate social, cultural and behavioural transformations in contemporary societies, namely with a more conscious production and a more participatory reception of discourses, instruments from which everything is created and everything is transformed. The essays within this book constitute a critical approach from a linguistic and cultural point of view regarding authoritarianism’s…
Building up adjusted indicators of students' evaluation of university courses using generalized item response models
2012
This article advances a proposal for building up adjusted composite indicators of the quality of university courses from students’ assessments. The flexible framework of Generalized Item Response Models is adopted here for controlling the sources of heterogeneity in the data structure that make evaluations across courses not directly comparable. Specifically, it allows us to: jointly model students’ ratings to the set of items which define the quality of university courses; explicitly consider the dimensionality of the items composing the evaluation form; evaluate and remove the effect of potential confounding factors which may affect students’ evaluation; model the intra-cluster variabilit…
Aprendizaje-servicio en el sistema universitario español. Un estudio enfocado en la evaluación de los proyectos
2020
In this article, 41 Service-Learning (SL) courses have been evaluated in 5 Spanish universities (4 public and 1 private), in order to determine whether they are SL initiatives or other type of educational practices. These experiences, which were implemented during the 2015/2016 academic year, covered degree programs from the five knowledge areas. Most of them involved Bachelor’s degree students and only one of them Master’s degree students. A qualitative methodology has been used, focused on content analysis and based on evaluations made by four experts. The analysis of the experiences points out an encouraging course of action for this methodology in the Spanish university system, showing …
OVERTURE Love Love is a Pink Cake or Queering Chopin in Times of Homophobia
2021
An introduction to the three essays included in this section. The article highlights the right to know whether Chopin was gay and contextualizes this inquiry in a very long and pervasive historiographical tradition, essentially twohundred years long, dedicated to examine Chopin sexual orientation, on the one hand, and on the other the more recent tradition of queering western classical music composers. The main point is not to demonstrate categorically that Chopin was ?gay? (a relative, modern identity marker in any case) but rather to highlight the discourses that have presented him as unequivocally heterosexual.
The Italian University Structure and Degrees on Agricultural Engineering
2003
In Italy the University structure and degree courses changed dramatically in 2001, moving from degrees of five years, plus three years of Ph.D., to two levels of degree: a first level of three years, plus, eventually, a second level of two years and the unchanged Ph.D. This “revolution” explains the lack of information in some topics and leaves the possibility of further changes in the number, titles and contents of the degrees presented in this paper.
ANALISI DELLE CARRIERE UNIVERSITARIE NELLE LAUREE SCIENTIFICHE DI BASE IN ITALIA NELL’ULTIMO DECENNIO
2018
An analysis of italian university science students’ careers in the last decade · This paper deals with the study of Italian university science careers by analyzing administrative longitudinal data from the Italian Ministry of Education. Three freshmen cohorts enrolled in a three-year degree course 2011/12, 2014/15, and 2016/17 are analyzed in three time points : at enrolment, in order to assess their choices with respect to their individual characteristics ; at the beginning of the second year, in order to assess who moves to another course and who drops out ; at the fourth year, in order to determine the “best” students’ profiles. The students’ variables involved are gender, type of school…
