The Femoral hypoplasia - unusual facies syndrome (FHUF) or Femoral - facial syndrome (FFS) was at first described in 1975. Up to now about 60 cases have been reported. According to our knowledge only 4 cases have had congenital central nervous system's malformations, furthermore the main stages of psychomotor development are almost always reported as normal or slightly altered in early childhood. We describe the first case of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in a patient with FFS, emphasizing that this rare association could be one of many unrecognized underlying features.

Supernumerary marker chromosomes (SMCs) are frequently found at pre- and postnatal cytogenetic diagnosis and require identification. A disproportionally large subset of SMCs is derived from the human chromosome 22 and confers tri- or tetrasomy for the cat eye chromosomal region (CECR, the proximal 2 Mb of chromosome 22q) and/or other segments of 22q. Robinow syndrome is a skeletal disorder historically refractory to molecular diagnosis, potentially stemming from substantial genetic heterogeneity. All current known pathogenic variants reside in genes within the noncanonical Wnt signaling pathway including ROR2, WNT5A, and more recently, DVL1 and DVL3. Mutations in the actively expressed, maternal allele of the imprinted KCNK9 gene cause Birk-Barel intellectual disability syndrome (BBIDS). Using a BBIDS mouse model, we identify here a partial rescue of the BBIDS-like behavioral and neuronal phenotypes mediated via residual expression from the paternal Kcnk9 (Kcnk9pat) allele. We further demonstrate that the second-generation HDAC inhibitor CI-994 induces enhanced expression from the paternally silenced Kcnk9 allele and leads to a full rescue of the behavioral phenotype suggesting CI-994 as a promising molecule for BBIDS therapy. Endoscopic techniques are now an accepted part of the surgical armamentarium and are used routinely in a number of aesthetic and reconstructive procedures. Endoscopic techniques are now being used commonly by plastic surgeons in forehead and face lifts. In both craniofacial surgery and in neurosurgery, the application of endoscopy potentially allows the surgical team to perform wide dissection of the dura mater in a minimally invasive fashion, thereby potentially reducing the risk of dural and brain injury.
