Active learning has been advocated for enhancing students’ higher order cognition in social constructivist learning settings. However, with the increasing use of student-owned computing devices in face-to-face classrooms, there are risks of limited student-student interactions. Developing education students' conceptions of the learning process in different learning environments

Abstract Changes in conceptions of the learning process of 31 educational psychology students were examined in a constructivist and in a traditional learning environment. The study was carried out in a course which dealt with theories of learning and development and consisted of three text books. At the beginning of the course all students wrote a short essay, “My conception of learning”, after which the participants were divided in two groups. Cost limitations might challenge the use of high-fidelity simulation as a teaching-learning method. This article presents the results of a Norwegian project including two simulation studies in which simulation teaching and learning were studied among students in the second year of a three-year bachelor nursing programme. The students were organised into small simulation groups with different roles; nurse, physician, family member and observer. Based on experiences in different roles, the students evaluated the simulation design characteristics and educational practices used in the simulation. Escritura y ciudad en María Zambrano : reencuentro de una amistad perdida tras la derrota sufrida

En este trabajo abordamos la reflexión que sobre el acto del escribir y la escritura realiza María Zambrano en sus escritos "Del escribir" y "Por qué se escribe", para relacionarlos con uno de los espacios más importantes para la pensadora: la ciudad. Aunque Zambrano no desarrolló una "teoría" sobre la ciudad propiamente dicha, su significado e imagen se encuentran en gran parte de su obra. La escritura, como logos que existe físicamente en el mundo, construye la ciudad: ese lugar de la palabra y de la libre expresión que nos protege. Una ciudad que parece derrotada ante la desaparición del pensamiento creativo, no instrumental, en el espacio público y que exige su reencuentro.
