Recent studies have suggested an increase in sepsis rates, this increase is due to several factors, such as the increase in the average age of the population, the growing number of invasive procedures and use of immunosuppressive drugs. The increase in sepsis incidence causes localized endothelial damage in various regions, it was this aspect that led us to focus the studies on the endothelium and in vivo microperfusion investigations in order to contribute to the scientific knowledge in this field. The present study will meticulously analyze this current and complex issue that affects on a daily basis, everyone involved in critical patient care.

Bagrada hilaris, nota con il nome di Cimice delle crocifere, è un Eterottero Pentatomide dannoso al cappero nell’isola di Pantelleria. Per verificare la possibilità di utilizzare insetticidi a basso impatto ambientale per il contenimento delle popolazioni di questo fitofago, sono state condotte prove in laboratorio e in campo con due insetticidi di origine vegetale, Show e Neemik, e un insetticida di sintesi, Decis Jet, utilizzato come controllo. Segmentation and feature extraction in capillaroscopic videos

This contribution describes a method to select regions of interest as capillaries of the oral mucosa and to extract their main features useful for real diagnosis purposes. A discrete version of the wavelet transform has been adopted for segmenting the images coming from video sequences acquired by a prototype capillaroscopic, able to put in evidence the red blood flow. A set of proper characteristics is automatically computed for a correct evaluation of the peripheral microcirculation.
