SAT0656 DAPSA OR MDA/VLDA CRITERIA FOR DEFINING THE TREATMENT TARGET IN PSORIATIC ARTHRITIS? CROSS-SECTIONAL ANALYSIS FROM A MULTICENTER ITALIAN COHO…

2019

Background: According to international recommendations, psoriatic arthritis (PsA) should be managed by a treat-to-target approach, but the identification of the best tool for defining the target of remission/low disease activity (LDA) is still controversial. Objectives: To evaluate and compare the rates of remission/LDA by comparing Disease Activity in PSoriatic Arthritis (DAPSA) score with Very Low Disease Activity (VLDA)/Minimal Disease Activity (MDA) criteria in a real-life multicentre cohort of PsA patients. Methods: We performed a cross-sectional analysis including the first consecutive 500 PsA patients evaluated in 8 Italian rheumatology centres since September 2017. The rates of pati…

Search for baryonic decays of c psi(3770) and psi(4040)

2013

By analyzing data samples of 2.9 fb(-1) collected at root s = 3.773 GeV, 482 pb(-1) collected at root s = 4.009 GeV and 67 pb(-1) collected at root s = 3.542, 3.554, 3.561, 3.600 and 3.650 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, we search for psi(3770) and psi(4040) decay to baryonic final states, including Lambda(Lambda) over bar pi(+)pi(-), Lambda(Lambda) over bar pi(0), Lambda(Lambda) over bar eta , Sigma(0)(Sigma) over bar (0) and Xi(0) (Xi) over bar (0) decays. None are observed, and upper limits are set at the 90% confidence level.

Age, Health Beliefs and Breast Cancer Screening Program Participation in Valencian Community, Spain

2004

BACKGROUND: Age has a significant bearing on health beliefs related to participating in breast cancer screening programs. This study is aimed at analyzing the breast cancer-related beliefs and attitudes influencing screening program participation among different age groups. METHODS: In a transversal study, a comparison is drawn between the health-related beliefs of a group of women participating in a screening program and a group of non-participating women, taking into account three age ranges (under age 50 (N = 279), 50-60 age range (N = 463), and over age 60 (N = 271). RESULTS: Some variables significantly differ between the participating and non-participating women solely in certain subg…

Drug Susceptibility Patterns in MDR-TB Patients: Challenges for Future Regimen Design. A Cross-Sectional Study

2015

Globally, there is substantial concern regarding the challenges of treating complex drug resistance patterns in multidrug resistant tuberculosis cases. Utilising data from three different settings (Estonia, Latvia, Romania) we sought to contrast drug susceptibility profiles for multidrug resistant tuberculosis cases, highlight the difficulties in designing universal regimen, and inform future regimen selection. Demographic and microbiological surveillance data for multidrug resistant tuberculosis cases from 2004-13 were analysed. High levels of additional resistance to currently recommended second line drugs were seen in all settings, with extensive variability between countries. Accurate d…

Lipid-lowering therapy use in primary and secondary care in Central and Eastern Europe: DA VINCI observational study.

2021

Abstract Background and aims Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) is a largely understudied region, despite having the highest cardiovascular disease mortality in Europe. This analysis aimed to assess the proportion of patients in CEE who achieved their LDL-C goals based on individual cardiovascular risk recommended by the 2016 and 2019 European Society of Cardiology (ESC)/European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) guidelines. Methods The DA VINCI study was a cross-sectional observational study of primary and secondary prevention patients receiving lipid-lowering therapy across Europe between June 2017 and November 2018. Results In total, 2154 patients were enrolled from the Czech Republic (n = 509…

Association between dietary folate intake and serum insulin-like growth factor-1 levels in healthy old women

2013

Abstract Objective High serum levels of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) seem to coincide with higher rates of some types of cancer and the risk of all-cause mortality in old people. Eating vegetables seems to reduce IGF-1 levels because they are rich in micronutrients such as vitamins. This study investigates the possible association between vitamin intake and IGF-1 levels in a representative group of healthy elderly women with Mediterranean dietary habits. Design This cross-sectional study included 124 healthy women with a mean age of 71.3 ± 4.2 years and a mean body mass index (BMI) of 27.37 ± 3.48 kg/m 2 attending a mild fitness program twice a week at public gyms in Padova. Calorie intake, olive oil consumption and mammographic density among Spanish women

2013

High mammographic density (MD) is one of the main risk factors for development of breast cancer. To date, however, relatively few studies have evaluated the association between MD and diet. In this cross-sectional study, we assessed the association between MD (measured using Boyd's semiquantitative scale with five categories: 75%) and diet (measured using a food frequency questionnaire validated in a Spanish population) among 3,548 peri- and postmenopausal women drawn from seven breast cancer screening programs in Spain. Multivariate ordinal logistic regression models, adjusted for age, body mass index (BMI), energy intake and protein consumption as well as other confounders, showed an asso…

Factors Associated with Prolonged Patient-Attributable Delay in the Diagnosis of Colorectal Cancer

2018

Purpose The delayed diagnosis of colorectal cancer (CRC) may be attributable to sociodemographic characteristics, to aspects of tumour histopathology or to the functioning of the health system. We seek to determine which of these factors most influences prolonged patient-attributable delay (PPAD) in the diagnosis and treatment of CRC. Materials and methods A prospective, multicentre observational study was conducted in 22 Spanish hospitals. In total, 1,785 patients were recruited to the study between 2010 and 2012 and underwent elective or urgent surgery. PPAD is considered to occur when the time elapsed between a patient presenting the symptom and him/her seeking attention from the primary…

Polyvascular subclinical atherosclerosis in familial hypercholesterolemia: The role of cholesterol burden and gender

2019

International audience; BACKGROUND AND AIM:Heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH) is a genetic disease characterized by a heterogeneous phenotype. The assessment of cardiovascular (CV) risk is challenging for HeFH. Cholesterol burden (CB) allows to estimate the lifelong exposure to high levels of cholesterol. The aim of this study was to analyze the distribution of subclinical atherosclerosis and the relationship between atherosclerosis and the CB in a sample of HeFH patients, focusing on sex-related differences.METHODS AND RESULTS:154 asymptomatic HeFH subjects underwent coronary-artery-calcium score (CACs) and Doppler ultrasound of carotid and femoral arteries. Yearly lipid pro…
