Photo-electrochemical investigation of anodic oxide films on cast Ti–Mo alloys. I. Anodic behaviour and effect of alloy composition
2009
Abstract The anodic behaviour of cast Ti–Mo alloys, having different Mo contents (6–20 wt.%), was investigated in acidic and neutral aerated aqueous solutions. All sample showed a valve-metal behaviour, owing to formation and thickening of barrier-type anodic oxides displaying interference colours. Growth kinetics of passive films is influenced by both anodizing electrolyte and composition of the starting alloy. This last parameter was found to change also the solid-state properties of the films, explored by photoelectrochemical and impedance spectroscopy experiments. Thicker films ( U f = 8 V/MSE) grown on alloys richer in Mo showed more resistive character and a photocurrent sign inversi…
Reliability and concurrent validity of the Velowin optoelectronic system to measure movement velocity during the free-weight back squat
2018
The objective of this study was to explore the reliability and concurrent validity of the Velowin optoelectronic system to measure movement velocity during the free-weight back squat exercise. Thirty-one men (age = 27.5 ± 3.2 years; body height = 1.76 ± 0.15 m; body mass: 78.3 ± 7.6 kg) were evaluated in a single session against five different loads (20, 40, 50, 60 and 70 kg) and three velocity variables (mean velocity, mean propulsive velocity and maximum velocity) were recorded simultaneously by a linear velocity transducer (T-Force; gold-standard) and a camera-based optoelectronic system (Velowin). The main findings revealed that (1) the three velocity variables were determined with a h…
Experimental Study of Six Different Implementations of Parallel Matrix Multiplication on Heterogeneous Computational Clusters of Multicore Processors
2010
Two strategies of distribution of computations can be used to implement parallel solvers for dense linear algebra problems for Heterogeneous Computational Clusters of Multicore Processors (HCoMs). These strategies are called Heterogeneous Process Distribution Strategy (HPS) and Heterogeneous Data Distribution Strategy (HDS). They are not novel and have been researched thoroughly. However, the advent of multicores necessitates enhancements to them. In this paper, we present these enhancements. Our study is based on experiments using six applications to perform Parallel Matrix-matrix Multiplication (PMM) on an HCoM employing the two distribution strategies.
A label compression method for online multi-label classification
2018
Abstract Many modern applications deal with multi-label data, such as functional categorizations of genes, image labeling and text categorization. Classification of such data with a large number of labels and latent dependencies among them is a challenging task, and it becomes even more challenging when the data is received online and in chunks. Many of the current multi-label classification methods require a lot of time and memory, which make them infeasible for practical real-world applications. In this paper, we propose a fast linear label space dimension reduction method that transforms the labels into a reduced encoded space and trains models on the obtained pseudo labels. Additionally…
Field-driven domain wall motion under a bias current in the creep andflow regimes in Pt/[CoSiB/Pt](N) nanowires
2016
AbstractThe dynamics of magnetic domain wall (DW) in perpendicular magnetic anisotropy Pt/[CoSiB/Pt]N nanowires was studied by measuring the DW velocity under a magnetic field (H) and an electric current (J) in two extreme regimes of DW creep and flow. Two important findings are addressed. One is that the field-driven DW velocity increases with increasing N in the flow regime, whereas the trend is inverted in the creep regime. The other is that the sign of spin current-induced effective field is gradually reversed with increasing N in both DW creep and flow regimes. To reveal the underlying mechanism of new findings, we performed further experiment and micromagnetic simulation, from which w…

A 3.3 V Output Voltage Optical Plasmonic Solar Energy Harvester
2021
In this paper, for the first time, the design of a solar energy-harvester (EH) based on plasmonic optical nanorectennas and without the step-up converter is presented. The novel optical harvester with a 49497∗14286 nanoarray of about 21,21 mm2 presents an output voltage value of 3.3 V and an output current of 10 mA.
