Updated Results from the $\nu_{\tau}$ Appearance Search in NOMAD

2000

Updated results from the appearance searches for $\numunutau$ and $\nuenutau$ oscillations in the full NOMAD data sample are reported. The increased data and the use of more refined kinematic schemes for the $\nutau$ CC selection allow a significant improvement of the overall sensitivity. The ``blind analysis" of both the deep-inelastic and the low multiplicity samples yields no evidence for an oscillation signal. In the two-family oscillation scenario, this sets a 90\% C.L. region in the $\sin^22\theta_{\mu\tau} - \Delta m^2$ plane which includes $\sin^22\theta_{\mu\tau}\ <\ 4.4\times10^{-4}$ at large $\Delta m^2$ and $\Delta m^2 < 0.8$ eV$^2$/$c^4$ at $\sin^22\theta_{\mu \tau}=1$. Precision measurement of scaled momentum, charge multiplicity, and thrust in νμN and interactions

1999

By focusing on the notion of electronic document, we differentiate two evolutions which are useful to distinct titles: on the one hand are the documents, which have value of reference. Its administrator will take care to preserve its integrity and its context of production which is strongly significant. On the other hand are resources, evolutionary elements by nature, which the user must be able to appropriate and who must thus be placed at the disposal so that the production is erased, to focus on a logic of exploitation and service.

Probing Supersymmetric Grand Unification through Flavor Physics

2007

Flavor Changing Neutral Current (FCNC) and CP violating processes are a powerful tool to probe the Standard Model (SM) and, hence, to constrain or obtain indirect hints of New Physics (NP) beyond it. Within Supersymmetric Grand Unified theories it is generally possible to link processes occurring in the leptonic and hadronic sectors; thus, their correlated analysis provides a very interesting low energy test for a Grand Unified theory at high energies. Similarly to the FCNC decays, we also show that the Lepton Flavor Universality tests in low-energy systems ( K l 2 and π l 2 ) offer a unique opportunity in shedding light on physics beyond the Standard Model; the smallness of NP effects is m…

Yukawa sector of multi-Higgs-doublet models in the presence of Abelian symmetries

2013

A general method for classifying the possible quark models of a multi-Higgs-doublet model, in the presence of Abelian symmetries, is presented. All the possible sets of textures that can be present in a given sector are shown, thus turning the determination of the flavor models into a combinatorial problem. Several symmetry implementations are studied for two and three Higgs doublet models. Some models' implementations are explored in great detail, with a particular emphasis on models known as Branco-Grimus-Lavoura and nearest-neighbor-interaction. Several considerations on the flavor changing neutral currents of multi-Higgs models are also given.

Mixing asymmetries inBmeson systems, the D0 like-sign dimuon asymmetry, and generic new physics

2015

The measurement of a large like-sign dimuon asymmetry $A^b_{SL}$ by the D0 experiment at the Tevatron departs noticeably from Standard Model expectations and it may be interpreted as a hint of physics beyond the Standard Model contributing to $\Delta B\neq 0$ transitions. In this work we analyse how the natural suppression of $A^b_{SL}$ in the SM can be circumvented by New Physics. We consider generic Standard Model extensions where the charged current mixing matrix is enlarged with respect to the usual $3\times 3$ unitary Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix, and show how, within this framework, a significant enhancement over Standard Model expectations for $A^b_{SL}$ is easily reachable throu…

Probing supernova physics with neutrino oscillations

2001

We point out that solar neutrino oscillations with large mixing angle as evidenced in current solar neutrino data have a strong impact on strategies for diagnosing collapse-driven supernova (SN) through neutrino observations. Such oscillations induce a significant deformation of the energy spectra of neutrinos, thereby allowing us to obtain otherwise inaccessible features of SN neutrino spectra. We demonstrate that one can determine temperatures and luminosities of non-electron flavor neutrinos by observing bar{nu}_{e} from galactic SN in massive water Cherenkov detectors by the charged current reactions on protons.

Gluonic contributions in the chiral hyperbag

1990

Abstract We incorporate into a non-perturbative chiral bag model scheme the gluons and the η' in a perturbative fashion. We analyze in this context the proton matrix element for the flavor singlet axial current, where due account is taken of the anomaly, and the delta-nucleon mass difference. Our results show that the contribution due to the gluons is significant for large bag radii and that they are crucial in order to establish the Cheshire cat principle.

A precise measurement of the muon neutrino nucleon inclusive charged current cross section off an isoscalar target in the energy range 2.5

2008

Abstract We present a measurement of the muon neutrino–nucleon inclusive charged current cross section, off an isoscalar target, in the neutrino energy range 2.5 ⩽ E ν ⩽ 40 GeV . The significance of this measurement is its precision, ±4% in 2.5 ⩽ E ν ⩽ 10 GeV , and ±2.6% in 10 ⩽ E ν ⩽ 40 GeV regions, where significant uncertainties in previous experiments still exist, and its importance to the current and proposed long baseline neutrino oscillation experiments.

Neutral- and charged-current supernova-neutrino scattering off116Cd

2013

The interest in studies of neutrino–nucleus interactions goes beyond the study of the intrinsic properties of the neutrino extending to a variety of topics in astro-, nuclear and hadronic physics. We report in this paper the results of the calculations of the cross sections of inelastic neutrino–nucleus scattering off 116Cd, focusing on the incoherent neutral-current and charged-current processes, at energies typical of supernova neutrinos. The required nuclear wave functions for the participant initial and final states are constructed using the quasiparticle random-phase approximation in its charge-conserving mode and charge-changing mode. The response of 116Cd to supernova neutrinos and a…
