Gaining competitive advantage through customer value oriented management
2001
Within the customer value literature there is a lacuna of theoretical frameworks and models that underlie consumers’ overall product valuation. This paper addresses this limitation and presents a model integrating consumer values, product benefits, and various costs of consumption. In the proposed model, benefits and costs are defined in terms of consumers’ perceptions in the activities of acquisition, consumption, and maintenance, as well as consumers’ expectation of value satisfaction before buying.

Creating customer value through industrial services : case: Raute Technology Services
2014
The role of marketing can be seen as to assist the company on creating superior value for its customers, so that they would succeed against their competitors. Creating superior value has not always been essential, as in the past firms could achieve profitability due to regulated markets, controlled distribution channels or scarce resources. An increasing number of industrial manufacturing companies are moving from offering solely products to offering combinations of products and services. Customers benefit from industrial services as they support and enable the value generation of the products they have purchased. To firms, offering services is a matter of competitive advantage since servic…
Advancing value-based selling research in B2B markets : A theoretical toolbox and research agenda
2023
Value-based selling (VBS) has become an increasingly important selling practice in contemporary business-to-business (B2B) markets, but currently most VBS studies are limited to exploratory and descriptive case studies. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to develop a theoretical toolbox that provides a foundation for more theory-driven research on VBS and thereby advances both the theoretical and managerial understanding of VBS. Specifically, we consider equity theory, framing theory, mental accounting, social exchange theory, signaling theory, agency theory, game theory, and institutional theory in terms of their implications for VBS. We provide a brief overview of each theory and its…
The value of value: Further excursions on the meaning and role of customer value
2011
Grounded on fundamental marketing principles, the concept of customer value has been revisited and refined by academicians and practitioners for the last 30 years. However, research devoted to achieving a consistent theoretical and conceptual development of valuerelated concepts has proceeded apace without ever reaching full closure. The present essay seeks reasons behind remaining deficiencies in value-related research and offers a review intended to move our understanding of customer value toward what promises to become a more enlightened future. The topic of value is approached by theoretical analysis and conceptual development. First, ‘‘the challenge’’ of value research is presented: th…
Customer value in Quick-Service Restaurants: A cross-cultural study
2020

To achieve this aim, after one in-depth interview with a QSR manager and two intercultural focus groups with QSR customers, a questionnaire …

Environmental values in industrial marketing relationships
2017
Concern for the natural environment has become an issue that virtually all companies have to address. Literature suggests that an environmentally oriented marketing strategy, such as an environmental brand image, yields competitive advantage for the supplier in the form of improved customer outcomes and financial performance. At the same time, key barriers to environmental purchasing are found to be related to higher perceived cost and lack of environmental interest among purchasing professionals. In addition, research has repeatedly revealed a gap between customers’ environmental values and attitudes and their manifestation in purchasing behavior. This dissertation contributes to the inter…
