A Multimodal People Recognition System for an Intelligent Environment

In this paper, a multimodal system for recognizing people in intelligent environments is presented. Users are identified and tracked by detecting and recognizing voices and faces through cameras and microphones spread around the environment. This multimodal approach has been chosen to develop a flexible and cheap though reliable system, implemented through consumer electronics. Voice features are extracted through a short time spectrum analysis, while face features are extracted using the eigenfaces technique. Lo scrittto, ricostruita la storia del rapporto tra la potestà urbanistica comunale e l'amministrazione del porto, si occupa di individuare gli attuali profili di conflitto tra interessi della città e interessi dell'autorità portuale, concentrandosi sulla fattispecie degli scali di rilevanza internazionale o nazionale. Da tale prospettiva, l'articolo individua le soluzioni che sul piano procedimentale sono in grado di risolvere il problema della difficile adozione, presso la gran maggioranza degli scali del paese, del piano regolatore portuale introdotto dall'art. 5 della legge n. 84 del 1994.

Epistemic uses of the verb decir in La Paz Spanish Digamos and dice

This paper explores semantic extensions and pragmatic functions of two evidential forms found in La Paz Spanish, digamos ‘let’s say’ and dice ‘s/he says’. Both forms are inflected forms of the verb decir ‘to say’. The form dice ‘s/he says’ has the function of a reported evidential form, conforming to results from previous studies (Babel 2009; Olbertz 2007; Travis 2006; Laprade 1981), while the form digamos is used according to a previously unnoticed function of an inferential evidential.

Cognitive rehabilitation of schizophrenia through NeuroVr training.

Cognitive difficulties are prevalent in people with diagnosis of schizophrenia and are associated with poor long-term functioning. In particular, memory, selective, divided and sustained attention and executive functions are altered by this disease. We used a Virtual Reality environment (developed via the NeuroVr2.0 software) for the rehabilitation of shifting, sustained attention and action planning functions using tasks reminiscent of daily life tasks. Test and retest showed significant differences in the assessed cognitive dimensions.
