Integration of high resolution spatial and spectral data acquisition systems to provide complementary datasets for cultural heritage applications

International audience; Modern optical measuring systems are able to record objects with high spatial and spectral precision. The acquisition of spatial data is possible with resolutions of a few hundredths of a millimeter using active projection-based camera systems, while spectral data can be obtained using filter-based multispectral camera systems that can capture surface spectral reflectance with high spatial resolution. This paper presents a pipeline that aims at illustrating the procedure to realize a 3D model of a complex building integrating the UAV and terrestrial images and modifying the 3D model in order to publish to Google Earth in an interactive modality so as to provide better available models for visualization and use. Editorial for the Special Issue “Frontiers in Spectral Imaging and 3D Technologies for Geospatial Solutions”

This Special Issue hosts papers on the integrated use of spectral imaging and 3D technologies in remote sensing, including novel sensors, evolving machine learning technologies for data analysis, and the utilization of these technologies in a variety of geospatial applications. The presented results showed improved results when multimodal data was used in object analysis.

Remote sensing is a key tool for precision agriculture applications as it is capable of capturing spatial and temporal variations in crop status. However, satellites often have an inadequate spatial resolution for precision agriculture applications.
