A literature review of sensor ontologies for manufacturing applications
2013
The purpose of this paper is to review existing sensor and sensor network ontologies to understand whether they can be reused as a basis for a manufacturing perception sensor ontology, or if the existing ontologies hold lessons for the development of a new ontology. We develop an initial set of requirements that should apply to a manufacturing perception sensor ontology. These initial requirements are used in reviewing selected existing sensor ontologies. Additionally, we present our developed sensor ontology thus far that incorporates a refined list of requirements. This paper describes 1) extending and refining the requirements; 2) proposing hierarchical structures for verifying the purpo…
Ontology Views for Ontology Change Management
2014
International audience; In the literature, ontology change management systems (OCMS) are direct implementation of the concept of “change management” stated by reference (Klein, 2004). Ontology change management combines ontol- ogy evolution and versioning features to manage ontol- ogy changes and their impacts. Since 2007, many works have combined ontology evolution and versioning into ontology change management systems (OCMS). The evolution subject has been massively studied in these works. They especially addressed the consistence issue for the application of changes on the ontology. These proposals constituted a consequent background for ontology change management but they did not take i…
Timeliness of Open Data in Open Government Data Portals Through Pandemic-related Data: a long data way from the publisher to the user
2020
The paper addresses the “timeliness” of data in open government data (OGD) portals. It is one of the primary principles of open data, which is considered to be a success factor, while at the same time it is one 0f the biggest barriers that can disrupt users trust in data and even the desire to use the entire open data portal. However, assessing this aspect is a very difficult task that, in most cases, becomes an impossible for open data users. There is therefore a lack of comparative studies on the timeliness of data of different national open data portals. Unfortunately, 2020 gave the opportunity to find out this. It became easy enough to compare how long is the data path from the data hol…

A Decentralized Ontology Versioning Model Designed for Inter-operability and Multi-organizational Data Exchange
2021
Current information systems operated in a multi-organization context use centralized or hierarchical data models proven inefficient as the network’s scale rapidly increases. The introduction of blockchain and decentralized specific mechanisms stimulate the use of ontology-based data models. While the adoption of blockchain as a communication medium facilitates the communication and data exchange in a more reliably and securely fashion, this opens new challenges regarding the evolution and versioning of the ontology. This paper proposes a versioning mechanism tailored to the decentralized environment. It provides the conceptual building blocks allowing an ontology to evolve under the supervi…
Effect of Prime Type on Lexical Decision Time
1987
The present investigation concerns the issues of the control condition and type of related prime-target relationship operationalization in the lexical-decision paradigm. It is shown that the use of a row of asterisks produces strong inhibitory effects on reaction time to the target relative to a control condition formed with the word “neutro” (“neutral”). The operationalization of prime-target relatedness by means of association of category norms seems equally adequate, although category exemplars do not prime category exemplar targets. Both sets of data are discussed in relation to current research trends using lexical-decision time.
A systematic approach to deriving incremental type checkers
2020
Static typing can guide programmers if feedback is immediate. Therefore, all major IDEs incrementalize type checking in some way. However, prior approaches to incremental type checking are often specialized and hard to transfer to new type systems. In this paper, we propose a systematic approach for deriving incremental type checkers from textbook-style type system specifications. Our approach is based on compiling inference rules to Datalog, a carefully limited logic programming language for which incremental solvers exist. The key contribution of this paper is to discover an encoding of the infinite typing relation as a finite Datalog relation in a way that yields efficient incremental up…
Design of a sun tracker for the automatic measurement of spectral irradiance and construction of an irradiance database in the 330-1100 nm range
2007
Abstract An automatic global and direct solar spectral irradiance system has been designed based on two LICOR spectroradiometers equipped with fibre optics and remote cosine sensors. To measure direct irradiance a sun tracker based on step motors has been developed. The whole system is autonomous and works continuously. From the measurements provided by this system a spectral irradiance database in the 330–1100 nm range has been created. This database contains normal direct and global horizontal irradiances as well as diffuse irradiance on a horizontal plane, together with total atmospheric optical thickness and aerosol optical depth.
Digital channels in the internal communication of a multinational corporation
2014
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine how digital communication tools are used for internal communication (IC) in multinational corporations (MNCs). Specifically, the study illustrates the role of digital channels in IC, the benefits they bring and the difficulties involved in using them. Design/methodology/approach – This research features a single-case study focusing on a listed Finnish multinational industrial corporation with a long history. Data for the study come from semi-structured theme interviews and a workshop in which the results were discussed. Findings – Digital IC tools are able to facilitate IC in MNCs, although some challenges may arise in relation to planning …
How does the online service level influence consumers’ purchase intentions before a transaction? A formative approach
2016
AbstractThe present paper tries to study the impact of online services level in contexts where transactions have not been done yet, through the adoption of a formative approach. In this scene, the present research considers two main dimensions of online services (pre-purchase services and transaction-related services) in a context of clothing purchasing process. Before defining the research and determining the sector to be analyzed, 7 focus groups were conducted. From the obtained conclusions, this study was carried on in the textile sector. A survey with 370 effective respondents was carried out. To measure the different concepts in the model, several scales were used based on literature p…
