Study of $e^{+}e^{-} \to D^{+} D^{-} \pi^{+} \pi^{-} $ at center-of-mass energies from 4.36 to 4.60 GeV

2020

We report a study of the $e^{+}e^{-} \to D^{+} D^{-} \pi^{+} \pi^{-}$ process using $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data samples with an integrated luminosity of $2.5\,\rm{fb}^{-1}$ at center-of-mass energies from 4.36 to $4.60 \rm{GeV}$, collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. The $D_{1}(2420)^+$ is observed in the $D^{+} \pi^{+} \pi^{-}$ mass spectrum. The mass and width of the $D_{1}(2420)^+$ are measured to be $(2427.2\pm 1.0_{\rm stat.}\pm 1.2_{\rm syst.}) \rm{MeV}/c^2$ and $(23.2\pm 2.3_{\rm stat.} \pm2.3_{\rm syst.}) \rm{MeV}$, respectively. The first errors are statistical and the second ones are systematic. In addition, the Born cross sections of the $e^{+}e^{-} \to D…

A Novel Method for the Measurement of Half-Lives and Decay Branching Ratios of Exotic Nuclei

2019

A novel method for simultaneous measurement of masses, Q-values, isomer excitation energies, half-lives and decay branching ratios of exotic nuclei has been demonstrated. The method includes first use of a stopping cell as an ion trap, combining containment of precursors and decay-recoils for variable durations in a cryogenic stopping cell (CSC), and afterwards the identification and counting of them by a multiple-reflection time-of-flight mass spectrometer (MR-TOF-MS). Feasibility has been established by recording the decay and growth of $^{216}$Po and $^{212}$Pb (alpha decay) and of $^{119m2}$Sb (t$_{1/2}$ = 850$\pm$90 ms) and $^{119g}$Sb (isomer transition), obtaining half-lives and bran…

Quasi-elastic polarization-transfer measurements on the deuteron in anti-parallel kinematics

2019

We present measurements of the polarization-transfer components in the H2(e→,e′p→) reaction, covering a previously unexplored kinematic region with large positive (anti-parallel) missing momentum, pmiss, up to 220MeV/c, and Q2=0.65 (GeV/c)2. These measurements, performed at the Mainz Microtron (MAMI), were motivated by theoretical calculations which predict small final-state interaction (FSI) effects in these kinematics, making them favorable for searching for medium modifications of bound nucleons in nuclei. We find in this kinematic region that the measured polarization-transfer components Px and Pz and their ratio agree with the theoretical calculations, which use free-proton form factor…

Partial wave analysis ofJ/ψ→γηη

2013

Based on a sample of 2.25 x 10(8) J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, a full partial wave analysis on J/psi -> gamma eta eta was performed using the relativistic covariant tensor amplitude method. The results show that the dominant 0(++) and 2(++) components are from the f(0)(1710), f(0)(2100), f(0)(1500), f(2)'(1525), f(2)(1810) and f(2)(2340). The resonance parameters and branching fractions are also presented.

Transverse Spectra of Hadrons in Central $AA$ Collisions at RHIC and LHC from pQCD+Saturation+Hydrodynamics and from pQCD+Energy Losses

2005

We study the transverse spectra of hadrons in nearly central $AA$ collisions at RHIC and LHC in a broad transverse momentum range Low-$p_T$ spectra are calculated by using boost-invariant hydrodynamics with initial energy and net-baryon densities from the EKRT pQCD+saturation model. High-$p_T$ spectra are obtained from pQCD jet calculation including the energy loss of the parton in the matter prior to its fragmentation to final hadrons.

Lower than low: Perspectives on zero- to ultralow-field nuclear magnetic resonance

2021

Abstract The less-traveled low road in nuclear magnetic resonance is discussed, honoring the contributions of Prof. Bernhard Blumich, aspiring towards reaching ‘a new low.’ A history of the subject and its current status are briefly reviewed, followed by an effort to prophesy possible directions for future developments.

Search for a right-handed gauge boson decaying into a high-momentum heavy neutrino and a charged lepton in pp collisions with the ATLAS detector at s…

2019

A search for a right-handed gauge boson WR, decaying into a boosted right-handed heavy neutrino NR, in the framework of Left-Right Symmetric Models is presented. It is based on data from proton–proton collisions with a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider during the years 2015, 2016 and 2017, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 80 fb$^{−1}$. The search is performed separately for electrons and muons in the final state. A distinguishing feature of the search is the use of large-radius jets containing electrons. Selections based on the signal topology result in smaller background compared to the expected signal. No significant d…

Aging measurements with the gas electron multiplier (GEM)

2001

Abstract Continuing previous aging measurements with detectors based on the Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM), we investigated a 31×31 cm 2 triple-GEM detector, as used in the small area tracking of the COMPASS experiment at CERN. With a detector identical to those installed in the experiment, long-term high-rate exposures to 8.9 keV X-ray radiation were performed to study its aging properties. In standard operation conditions, with Ar/CO2 (70:30) gas filling and operated at an effective gain of 8.5×103, no change in gain and energy resolution is observed after collecting a total charge of 7 mC / mm 2 , corresponding to seven years of normal operation. This observation confirms previous results…
