Precise measurement of the top quark mass in dilepton decays using optimized neutrino weighting

2016

We measure the top quark mass in dilepton final states of top-antitop events in proton-antiproton collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.7 fb^-1 at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The analysis features a comprehensive optimization of the neutrino weighting method to minimize the statistical uncertainties. We also improve the calibration of jet energies using the calibration determined in top-antitop to lepton+jets events, which reduces the otherwise limiting systematic uncertainty from the jet energy scale. The measured top quark mass is mt = 173.32 +/- 1.36(stat) +/- 0.85(syst) GeV.

In Vitro and In Vivo Antimalarial Activity Assays of Seeds from Balanites aegyptiaca: Compounds of the Extract Show Growth Inhibition and Activity ag…

2011

Balanites aegyptiaca(Balanitaceae) is a widely grown desert plant with multiuse potential. In the present paper, a crude extract fromB. aegyptiacaseeds equivalent to a ratio of 1 : 2000 seeds to the extract was screened for antiplasmodial activity. The determined IC50value for the chloroquine-susceptiblePlasmodium falciparumNF54 strain was 68.26 . Analysis of the extract by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry detected 6-phenyl-2(H)-1,2,4-triazin-5-one oxime, an inhibitor of the parasitic M18 Aspartyl Aminopeptidase as one of the compounds which is responsible for thein vitroantiplasmodial activity. The crude plant extract had a of 2.35  and showed a dose-dependent response. After depletion…

Efficacy and cost-effectiveness of guided and unguided internet- and mobile-based indicated transdiagnostic prevention of depression and anxiety (ICa…

2019

Background Depression and anxiety are highly prevalent and often co-occur. Several studies indicate the potential of disorder-specific psychological interventions for the prevention of each of these disorders. To treat comorbidity, transdiagnostic treatment concepts seem to be a promising approach, however, evidence for transdiagnostic concepts of prevention remains inconclusive. Internet- and mobile-based interventions (IMIs) may be an effective means to deliver psychological interventions on a large scale for the prevention of common mental disorders (CMDs) such as depression and anxiety. IMIs have been shown to be effective in treating CMDs, e.g. in reducing symptoms of depression and an…

Algebraic (2, 2)-transformation groups

2009

This paper contains the more significant part of the article with the same title that will appear in the Volume 12 of Journal of Group Theory (2009). In this paper we determine all algebraic transformation groups $G$, defined over an algebraically closed field $\sf k$, which operate transitively, but not primitively, on a variety $\Omega$, provided the following conditions are fulfilled. We ask that the (non-effective) action of $G$ on the variety of blocks is sharply 2-transitive, as well as the action on a block $\Delta$ of the normalizer $G_\Delta$. Also we require sharp transitivity on pairs $(X,Y)$ of independent points of $\Omega$, i.e. points contained in different blocks.

Unusual packing of ET molecules caused by π–π stacking interactions with TRISPHAT molecules in two [ET][TRISPHAT] salts (ET=bis(ethylenedithio)tetrat…

2007

Abstract The synthesis, structure and physical properties of two new radical salts formed with the organic donor bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF or ET) and a racemic mixture of the chiral anion (tris(tetrachlorobenzenediolato)phosphate(V)) (TRISPHAT) are reported. The structure of the salts (ET)4[TRISPHAT]4 · 3.5H2O (1) and (ET)(TRISPHAT) · CH2Cl2 · CH3CN (2) has been solved by X-ray single crystal diffraction. Unusual packings of ET molecules are obtained in the two structures. The electrical properties indicate that both compounds are insulators. This is in agreement with the isolation of the ET molecules and their complete ionization. On the other hand, the anisotropy of …

Simultaneous Vehicle and Crew Routing and Scheduling for Partial- and Full-Load Long-Distance Road Transport

2013

AbstractThis paper studies a simultaneous vehicle and crew routing and scheduling problem arising in long-distance road transport in Europe: Pickup-and-delivery requests have to be fulfilled over a multi-period planning horizon by a heterogeneous fleet of trucks and drivers. Typically, in the vehicle routing literature, a fixed assignment of a driver to a truck is assumed. In our approach, we abandon this assumption and allow truck/driver changes at geographically dispersed relay stations. This offers greater planning flexibility and allows a better utilization of trucks, but also creates intricate interdependencies between trucks and drivers and requires the synchronization of their routes…

Predicting 19F NMR Chemical Shifts: A Combined Computational and Experimental Study of a Trypanosomal Oxidoreductase–Inhibitor Complex

2020

Abstract The absence of fluorine from most biomolecules renders it an excellent probe for NMR spectroscopy to monitor inhibitor–protein interactions. However, predicting the binding mode of a fluorinated ligand from a chemical shift (or vice versa) has been challenging due to the high electron density of the fluorine atom. Nonetheless, reliable 19F chemical‐shift predictions to deduce ligand‐binding modes hold great potential for in silico drug design. Herein, we present a systematic QM/MM study to predict the 19F NMR chemical shifts of a covalently bound fluorinated inhibitor to the essential oxidoreductase tryparedoxin (Tpx) from African trypanosomes, the causative agent of African sleepi…

Binding of PTEN to specific PDZ domains contributes to PTEN protein stability and phosphorylation by microtubule-associated serine/threonine kinases

2005

The tumor suppressor phosphatase PTEN is a key regulator of cell growth and apoptosis that interacts with PDZ domains from regulatory proteins, including MAGI-1/2/3, hDlg, and MAST205. Here we identified novel PTEN-binding PDZ domains within the MAST205-related proteins, syntrophin-associated serine/threonine kinase and MAST3, characterized the regions of PTEN involved in its interaction with distinctive PDZ domains, and analyzed the functional consequences on PTEN of PDZ domain binding. Using a panel of PTEN mutations, as well as PTEN chimeras containing distinct domains of the related protein TPTE, we found that the PTP and C2 domains of PTEN do not affect PDZ domain binding and that the …
