A partire dal dibattito giuridico che si sviluppò nel tardo Settecento, quando gli abusi feudali furono più che mai messi in discussione, il presente saggio intende delineare le caratteristiche del feudo siciliano in età moderna: concessioni, natura, forma. La discussione si sviluppò principalmente sull’interpretazione dei capitoli Si aliquem (1286) e Volentes (1296), ma in ultima analisi la posta in gioco riguardava il rapporto tra il potere sovrano e la giurisdizione feudale. The international journal Res Publica, founded in Bruxelles in 1931 - under the impulse of Luigi Sturzo - by Francesco Luigi Ferrari, formidable opponent of fascist regime, in 1933 suspended its publications after its young founder's premature death. According to Ferrari and Sturzo, Res publica represented the instrument to spread democratic culture and to allow Italian people, as soon as they got rid of Fascist dictatorship, to renovate institutions. In October 1945, Res publica resumed publications with renewed goals. Responsibility in uncertain times: an institutional perspective on precaution

Precaution is a key issue in environmental governance. Variously defined, intensively debated and introduced in many regulations, its meaning, scope and application remain problematic. This article argues that the controversy on precaution is a matter of culturally patterned expectations concerning the production and use of knowledge and the related social positions and responsibilities. The way uncertainty and its role in the policy process are understood is crucial. For some precaution is a flawed concept, to be accommodated to the current expert-based cooperative scheme.
