2014
This paper focuses on the study of the virtual identity of Internet users in discussion forums and, specifically, their discursive identity. After a brief introduction to the concept of virtual identity, I analyze the basic characteristics of such forums, conceived as a place of dialectic, polyphonic and multidiscoursive communication. In the second part, I examine locutors’ discursive behavior in ideological argumentative discourse. First, I look at the image that the Internet user offers through its argumentative posts and how it is perceived by the virtual community. Next I analyze the argumentative strategies employed by locutors in “El foro de religión”, focusing my attention on those …
La historiografía reciente sobre el primer carlismo (2006-2018)
2020
The objective of this article is to analyze the latest publications on the first Carlism and to know what the current state of affairs is. To do this, more than 300 works have been consulted and the authors, the study topics and the interpretations have been analyzed. In this way we see that there are three types of historians of Carlism and that the group to which they belong influences the kind of publications, the themes and the interpretations of each one. As for the subjects, there is a great variety of them, being the most frequent the biographies, the military accounts and the local, county and historiographic studies. On the other hand, although there are new approaches and some gap…

Politicisation as a Speech Act: A Repertoire for Analysing Politicisation in Parliamentary Plenary Debates
2021
This chapter analyses the actual speech acts of politicisation among parliamentarians, which also makes it possible to set the current debates among European Union (EU) scholars in a wider context. My aim is to sketch a scheme for distinguishing different aspects of politicisation, referring to concepts of politics (sphere or activity and its specific aspects), to the politicisation of topics or persons, to its time dimensions (past, present, and future), to different activities of politicisation (adversaries, unintended changes, the actors themselves), as well as to opposing evaluations of politicisation. The data set consists of the plenary debates of the UK House of Commons, the (West) G…

To act or not to act : Debating the climate change agenda in the United States Congress
2020
Most climate change actions take place in the international context in terms of multilateral negotiations and accords or in bilateral agreements between heads of the state. Parliaments or legislatures such as the United States Congress are in a crucial position when it comes to converting agreements or aims to action in domestic politics. The United States has played a volatile role in international negotiations on climate change. From categorically rejecting the Kyoto protocol during the George W. Bush administration, President Barack Obama announced that the United States would join the Paris Climate Accord prior to President Donald J. Trump's announcement of the withdrawal of the United …
The politics of pairlessnessSinglehood in the public debate in Finland
2020
Sinkkujen määrä on lisääntynyt länsimaissa 1960-luvulta lähtien. Ilman vakituista kumppania elävien asemasta ei kuitenkaan juuri käydä yhteiskuntapoliittista keskustelua. Artikkelissa analysoidaan sinkkuutta koskevaa keskustelua suomalaisissa sanoma- ja päivälehdissä. Lähtökohtana on, että julkinen keskustelu osallistuu keskeisellä tavalla sinkkuuden määrittelyyn The number of people living without a partner is continuing to grow across the world. However, the tenacity of the couple-norm remains unaffected, and despite the demographic shift there is still a paucity of research on singlehood. Our contribution in this article is to analyse the Finnish public debate on singlehood, single peopl…
The use and abuse of parliamentary concepts in Hungarian parliamentary debates, 1920–27
2020
During and after the First World War, discourses calling for constitutional reform pervaded Europe. The break-up of the continental empires, the emergence of the new nation-states, and the western calls for democratization collectively gave rise to transnational debates about parliamentarization and parliamentary government. However, in the diverse and contingent post-war political environment, at the same time these ideals were given profoundly nation-specific meanings. They were implemented in the process of nation-building in equally diverse national contexts. This article analyses the use and abuse of the parliamentary concepts and their vernacular redescriptions in Hungarian parliament…
El análisis marxista de las necesidades sociales
2018
The disappearance of the so-called «real socialism» has concealed the validity of the Marxist analysis of social reality. One of the sets of hypotheses that has best maintained its heuristic capacity is the Marxist theory of needs. The Marxist hypotheses have been developed in debate with other conventional conceptions. Currently, feminism and the ecological analysis of needs are renewing the views of Heller and Habermas.
