Short-range correlations and neutrinoless double beta decay
2007
In this work we report on the effects of short-range correlations upon the matrix elements of neutrinoless double beta decay. We focus on the calculation of the matrix elements of the neutrino-mass mode of neutrinoless double beta decays of 48Ca and 76Ge. The nuclear-structure components of the calculation, that is the participant nuclear wave functions, have been calculated in the shell-model scheme for 48Ca and in the proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (pnQRPA) scheme for 76Ge. We compare the traditional approach of using the Jastrow correlation function with the more complete scheme of the unitary correlation operator method (UCOM). Our results indicate that the Jast…
Odd neutron nuclei near A=100: Rotational bands in103Mo and105Mo populated in the? ? decays of103Nb and105Nb
1984
Theβ − decays of103Nb and105Nb have been studied at the fission product separators JOSEF and LOHENGRIN. Half-lives of (1.5±0.2) s and (2.95±0.06) s, respectively, have been determined for these decays. Fromγ singles andγ-γ coincidence measurements extended level schemes for103Mo and105Mo have been established for the first time. The lowest energy levels of these nuclei are consistent with the interpretation as members of rotational bands built on a 3/2+ [411] Nilsson state. Evidence is presented for the location of the 9/2+ [404] configuration.
Origin of the odd-even staggering in theA?80 solarR-abundance peak
1990
In contrast to the conventional picture, the r-process yields in the A≃80 abundance peak exhibit a pronounced odd-even staggering. It is proposed that this behaviour may be due to strong β-delayed neutron branching from a few odd-mass isotopes located in or close to the r-process path.
Fine structure in theαdecay ofPo188,192
2003
The alpha decay of Po-188,Po-192 has been reexamined in order to probe the 0(+) states in the daughter nuclei Pb-184,Pb-188 that can be associated with coexisting spherical, oblate, and/or prolate ...
Nuclear potentials for sub-barrier fusion and cluster decay inC14,O18+Pb208systems
2007
Near-barrier fusion excitation functions for the $^{14}\mathrm{C}$ and $^{18}\mathrm{O}+^{208}\mathrm{Pb}$ reactions have been analyzed in the framework of the barrier-passing model using different forms of the nuclear potential and the phenomenology of a fluctuating barrier. The best-fit fusion potentials were used to estimate cluster decay probabilities from the corresponding ground states of Ra and Th (i.e., for the inverse decay process). The analysis supports the ``\ensuremath{\alpha}-decay-like'' scenario for carbon and oxygen emission from these nuclei.
High-statistics measurement of the β-delayed α spectrum of 20Na
2013
A measurement of the 20Na β-delayed alpha spectrum with a high-granularity setup has allowed the decay scheme to be revised on several points. Three new transitions of low intensity are found at low α -particle energy. An R-matrix fit of the complete spectrum gives an improved description of the decay and indicates feeding to the broad 2+ α-cluster state close to 9MeV. c Societa Italiana di Fisica / Springer-Verlag 2013
Measurement ofB¯0→D(*)0K¯(*)0branching fractions
2006
We present a study of the decays (B) over bar (0)-> D-(*)0(K) over bar ((*)0) using a sample of 226x10(6) Upsilon(4S)-> B (B) over bar decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider at SLAC. We report evidence for the decay of B-0 and (B) over bar (0) mesons to the (DKS0)-K-*0 final state with an average branching fraction B(B-0 ->(DK0)-K-*0)equivalent to(B((B) over bar (0)-> D-*0(K) over bar (0))+B(B-0 ->(DK0)-K-*0))/2=(3.6 +/- 1.2 +/- 0.3)x10(-5). Similarly, we measure B(B-0 ->(DK0)-K-0)equivalent to(B((B) over bar (0)-> D-0(K) over bar (0))+B(B-0 ->(DK0)-K-0))/2=(5.3 +/- 0.7 +/- 0.3)x10(-5) for the (DKS0)-K-0 final state. We measure B((K) over …
Branching fraction measurements ofB→ηcKdecays

We study the decays B{sup +} {yields} {eta}{sub c}K{sup +} and B{sup 0} {yields} {eta}{sub c}K{sup 0}, where the {eta}{sub c} is reconstructed in the K{sub S}{sup 0} K{sup {+-}} {pi}{sup {-+}} and K{sup +}K{sup -} {pi}{sup 0} decay modes. Results are based on a sample of 86 million B{bar B} pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC e{sup +}e{sup -} B Factory. We measure the branching fractions {Beta}(B{sup +} {yields} {eta}{sub c}K{sup +}) = (1.34 {+-} 0.09 {+-} 0.13 {+-} 0.41) x 10{sup -3} and {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {eta}{sub c}K{sup 0}) = (1.18 {+-} 0.16 {+-} 0.13 {+-} 0.37) x 10{sup -3}, where the first error is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third reflects th…

We have searched for the decays B{sup 0}{yields}D{sub s}{sup +}a{sub 0}{sup -}, B{sup 0}{yields}D{sub s}*{sup +}a{sub 0}{sup -}, B{sup 0}{yields}D{sub s}{sup +}a{sub 2}{sup -} and B{sup 0}{yields}D{sub s}*{sup +}a{sub 2}{sup -} in a sample of about 230x10{sup 6} {upsilon}(4S){yields}BB decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. We find no evidence for these decays and set upper limits at 90% C.L. on the branching fractions: B(B{sup 0}{yields}D{sub s}{sup +}a{sub 0}{sup -})<1.9x10{sup -5}, B(B{sup 0}{yields}D{sub s}*{sup +}a{sub 0}{sup -})<3.6x10{sup -5}, B(B{sup 0}{yields}D{sub s}{sup +}a{sub 2}{sup -})<1.9x10{sup -4}, and B(B{sup 0}{yields}D…

2006
From a sample of 232 million {Upsilon}(4S) {yields} B{bar B} events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B Factory in 1999-2004, they measure the B{sup -} {yields} D{sup 0} K*{sup -}(892) decay branching fraction using events where the K*{sup -} is reconstructed in the K{sub S}{sup 0}{pi}{sup -} mode and the D{sup 0} in the K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}, K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup 0}, and K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -} channels: {Beta}(B{sup -} {yields} D{sup 0}K*{sup -}(892)) = (5.29 {+-} 0.30 (stat) {+-} 0.34 (syst)) x 10{sup -4}.
