Radiative decay into gamma-baryon of dynamically generated resonances from the vector-baryon interaction

2010

We study the radiative decay into gamma and a baryon of the SU(3) octet and decuplet of nine and ten resonances that are dynamically generated from the interaction of vector mesons with baryons of the octet and the decuplet, respectively. We obtain quite different partial decay widths for the various resonances, and for different charge states of the same resonance, suggesting that the experimental investigation of these radiative decays should bring much information on the nature of these resonances. For the case of baryons of the octet we determine the helicity amplitudes and compare them with experimental data when available.

Simplest scoto-seesaw mechanism

2019

By combining the simplest (3,1) version of the seesaw mechanism containing a single heavy "right-handed" neutrino with the minimal scotogenic approach to dark matter, we propose a theory for neutrino oscillations. The "atmospheric" mass scale arises at tree level from the seesaw, while the "solar" oscillation scale emerges radiatively, through a loop involving the "dark sector" exchange. Such simple setup gives a clear interpretation of the neutrino oscillation lengths, has a viable WIMP dark matter candidate, and implies a lower bound on the neutrinoless double beta decay rate.

Neutrino oscillations and new physics

2005

I discuss the theoretical background and the status of neutrino oscillation parameters from the current worlds' global data sample and latest flux calculations. I give their allowed ranges, best fit values and discuss the small parameters and sin2theta13, which characterize CP violation in neutrino oscillations. I mention the significance of neutrinoless double beta decay and current expectations in view of oscillation results.

CP violation and neutrino oscillations

2007

We review the basic mechanisms of neutrino mass generation and the corresponding structure of the lepton mixing matrix. We summarize the status of three-neutrino oscillation parameters as determined from current observations, using state-of-the-art solar and atmospheric neutrino fluxes, as well as latest experimental data as of September 2007. We also comment on recent attempts to account for these results and to understand flavour from first principles. We discuss extensively the prospects for probing the strength of CP violation in two near term accelerator neutrino oscillation experiments, T2K and NOvA, as well as possible extensions such as T2KK and a second large off-axis detector near…

Clues for the existence of twoK1(1270)resonances

2007

The axial-vector meson ${K}_{1}(1270)$ was studied within the chiral unitary approach, where it was shown that it has a two-pole structure. We reanalyze the high-statistics WA3 experiment ${K}^{\ensuremath{-}}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}p$ at 63 GeV, which established the existence of both ${K}_{1}(1270)$ and ${K}_{1}(1400)$, and we show that it clearly favors our two-pole interpretation. We also reanalyze the traditional $K$-matrix interpretation of the WA3 data and find that the good fit of the data obtained there comes from large cancellations of terms of unclear physical interpretation.

Randall-Sundrum corrections to the width difference andCP-violating phase inBs0-meson decays

2011

We study the impact of the Randall-Sundrum setup on the width difference $\ensuremath{\Delta}{\ensuremath{\Gamma}}_{s}$ and the $CP$-violating phase ${\ensuremath{\phi}}_{s}$ in the ${\overline{B}}_{s}^{0}$-${B}_{s}^{0}$ system. Our calculations are performed in the general framework of an effective theory, based on operator product expansion. The results can thus be used for many new-physics models. We find that the correction to the magnitude of the decay amplitude ${\ensuremath{\Gamma}}_{12}^{s}$ is below 4% for a realistic choice of input parameters. The main modification in the $\ensuremath{\Delta}{\ensuremath{\Gamma}}_{s}/{\ensuremath{\beta}}_{s}$-plane is caused by a new $CP$-violati…

Two-photon and one-photon–one-vector meson decay widths of thef0(1370),f2(1270),f0(1710),f2′(1525), andK2*(1430)

2010

We calculate the radiative decay widths, two-photon ($\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma}$) and one-photon--one-vector meson ($V\ensuremath{\gamma}$), of the dynamically generated resonances from vector-meson--vector-meson interaction in a unitary approach based on the hidden-gauge Lagrangians. In the present paper we consider the following dynamically generated resonances: ${f}_{0}(1370)$, ${f}_{0}(1710)$, ${f}_{2}(1270)$, ${f}_{2}^{\ensuremath{'}}(1525)$, ${K}_{2}^{*}(1430)$, two $\mathrm{\text{strangeness}}=0$ and $\mathrm{\text{isospin}}=1$ states, and two $\mathrm{\text{strangeness}}=1$ and $\mathrm{\text{isospin}}=1/2$ states. For the ${f}_{0}(1370)$ and ${f}_{2}(1270)$ we reproduc…

Multiquark description of theDsJ(2860)andDsJ(2700)

2009

Within a theoretical framework that accounts for all open-charm mesons, including the ${D}_{0}^{*}(2308)$, the ${D}_{sJ}^{*}(2317)$, and the ${D}_{sJ}(2460)$, we analyze the structure and explore possible quantum number assignments for the ${D}_{sJ}(2860)$ and the ${D}_{sJ}(2700)$ mesons reported by BABAR and Belle Collaborations. The open-charm sector is properly described if considered as a combination of conventional quark-antiquark states and four-quark components. All negative parity and ${2}^{+}$ states can be understood in terms only of $q\overline{q}$ components, however the description of the ${0}^{+}$ and ${1}^{+}$ mesons is improved whenever the mixing between two- and four-quark…

Search for the highly suppressed decaysB−→K+π−π−andB−→K−K−π+

2008

We report a search for the decays B- -> K+pi(-)pi(-) and B- -> K-K-pi(+), which are highly suppressed in the standard model. Using a sample of (467 +/- 5) x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected with the BABAR detector, we do not see any evidence of these decays and determine 90% confidence level upper limits of B(B- -> K+pi(-)pi(-)) and K-K-pi(+)) and < 1.6 x 10(-7) on the corresponding branching fractions, including systematic uncertainties.
