Structure of115Ag studied byβ−decays of115Pd and115Pdm

The excited levels of ${}^{115}$Ag have been studied via the beta decay of ${}^{115}$Pd and ${}^{115}$Pd${}^{m}$. The beta-decay schemes for both states have been considerably extended, especially the scheme following the decay of ${}^{115}$Pd${}^{m}$ which was practically unknown before this work. Transition intensities and ${\mathrm{log}}_{10}ft$ values are reported, which have been missing in the literature. A set of levels around 2 MeV has been found to be strongly populated by the beta decay of the ground state of ${}^{115}$Pd and is suggested to have a three-quasiparticle nature. Combined in-beam electron andγ-ray spectroscopy ofHg184,186

By exploiting the SAGE spectrometer a simultaneous measurement of conversion electrons and {gamma} rays emitted in the de-excitation of excited levels in the neutron-deficient nuclei {sup 184,186}Hg was performed. The light Hg isotopes under investigation were produced using the 4n channels of the fusion-evaporation reactions of {sup 40}Ar and {sup 148,150}Sm. The measured K- and L-conversion electron ratios confirmed the stretched E2 nature of several transitions of the yrast bands in {sup 184,186}Hg. Additional information on the E0 component of the 2{sub 2}{sup +}{yields}2{sub 1}{sup +} transition in {sup 186}Hg was obtained.
In-beam γ-ray spectroscopy of 190Po: First observation of a low-lying prolate band in Po isotopes

Gamma rays from excited states of 190Po have been observed using the Jurosphere Ge-detector array coupled to the RITU gas-filled separator. They were associated with a collective band which from spin 4 onwards resembles the prolate rotational bands known in the isotones 188Pb and 186Hg. This indicates that in 190Po the prolate configuration becomes yrast above I = 2. The experimental results are interpreted in a two-band mixing calculation and are in agreement with α-decay data and potential energy surface calculations.
Beta-decay half-lives at the N = 28 shell closure

Abstract Measurements of the beta-decay half-lives of neutron-rich nuclei (MgAr) in the vicinity of the N =28 shell closure are reported. Some 22 half-lives have been determined, 12 of which for the first time. Particular emphasis is placed on the results for the Si isotopes, the half-lives of which have been extended from N =25 to 28. Comparison with QRPA calculations suggests that 42 Si is strongly deformed. This is discussed in the light of a possible weakening of the spin–orbit potential.
Consistent large-scale shell-model analysis of the two-neutrino ββ and single β branchings in 48Ca and 96Zr

Abstract Two-neutrino double-beta-decay matrix elements M 2 ν and single beta-decay branching ratios were calculated for 48Ca and 96Zr in the interacting nuclear shell model using large single-particle valence spaces with well-tested two-body Hamiltonians. For 48Ca the matrix element M 2 ν = 0.0511 is obtained, which is 5.5% smaller than the previously reported value of 0.0539. For 96Zr this work reports the first large-scale shell-model calculation of the nuclear matrix element, yielding a value M 2 ν = 0.0747 with extreme single-state dominance. A measurement of the b baryon lifetime

In 451 000 hadronic Z0 decays, recorded with the ALEPH detector at LEP, the yields of lambdal- and lambdal+ combinations are measured. Semileptonic decays of b baryons result in a signal of 122 +/- 18(stat.)+22/-23(syst.) lambdal- combinations. From a fit to the impact parameter distribution of the leptons in the lambdal- sample, the lifetime of b baryons is measured to be 1.12+0.32/-0.29(stat.) +/- 0.16(syst.) ps.
Microscopic description of α-like resonances

A description of $\ensuremath{\alpha}$-like resonances is given in terms of single-particle states including narrow Gamow resonances in continuum. The equations of motion are derived within the multistep shell-model approach; the lowest collective two-particle eigenmodes are used as building blocks for the four-particle states. A good agreement with the low-lying states in ${}^{212}\mathrm{Po}$ is obtained. A new technique to estimate the $\ensuremath{\alpha}$-particle formation amplitude for any multipolarity is proposed. Collectivity ofPo196at low spin

Absolute electromagnetic transition probabilities in $^{196}\mathrm{Po}$ have been measured using the recoil distance Doppler-shift technique. The lifetimes of the three lowest yrast states in $^{196}\mathrm{Po}$ were extracted from singles \ensuremath{\gamma}-ray spectra by using the recoil-decay tagging method. In addition, configuration mixing calculations of angular momentum projected mean-field states have been carried out for $^{196}\mathrm{Po}$. The present study sheds light on the onset of collectivity and mixing of competing structures in neutron-deficient Po nuclei.
Prompt and delayed spectroscopy ofAt199

The neutron-deficient nucleus $^{199}\mathrm{At}$ has been studied through $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray and electron spectroscopy, using the recoil-decay tagging technique. Two experiments were conducted, using a gas-filled recoil separator with a focal-plane spectrometer alone and together with a germanium-detector array at the target position. The resulting level scheme for $^{199}\mathrm{At}$ includes a new isomer with a half-life of 0.80(5) $\ensuremath{\mu}$s and a spin and parity of ($29/{2}^{+}$). The $13/{2}^{+}$ isomer, which de-excites via an $M2$ transition to the $9/{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ ground state, was measured to have a half-life of 70(20) ns. Our earlier version of the level s…
Exclusive production ofDs+Ds−,Ds*+Ds−, andDs*+Ds*−viae+e−annihilation with initial-state radiation

We perform a study of exclusive production of D{sub s}{sup +}D{sub s}{sup -}, D{sub s}{sup *+}D{sub s}{sup -}, and D{sub s}{sup *+}D{sub s}{sup *-} final states in initial-state-radiation events from e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilations at a center-of-mass energy near 10.58 GeV, to search for charmonium 1{sup --} states. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 525 fb{sup -1} and was recorded by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II storage ring. The D{sub s}{sup +}D{sub s}{sup -}, D{sub s}{sup *+}D{sub s}{sup -}, and D{sub s}{sup *+}D{sub s}{sup *-} mass spectra show evidence of the known {psi} resonances.
