Autonomy and Cooperation in Federalizing Models of Cultural Policy. Comparative Analysis of the Cases of Germany, USA, Canada, Switzerland, United Ki…

2018

Do Diacritical Marks Play a Role at the Early Stages of Word Recognition in Arabic?

2016

Published: 22 August 2016 A crucial question in the domain of visual word recognition is whether letter similarity plays a role in the early stages of visual word processing. Here we focused on Arabic because in this language there are various groups of letters that share the same basic shape and only differ in the number/location of diacritical points. We conducted a masked priming lexical decision experiment in which a target word was preceded by: (i) an identity prime; (ii) a prime in which the critical letter was replaced by a letter with the same shape that differed in the number of diacritics (e.g., ); or (iii) a prime in which the critical letter was replaced by a letter with differe…

The Omission of Accent Marks Does Not Hinder Word Recognition: Evidence From Spanish

2021

Recent research has found that the omission of accent marks in Spanish does not produce slower word identification times in go/no-go lexical decision and semantic categorization tasks [e.g., cárcel (prison) = carcel], thus suggesting that vowels like á and a are represented by the same orthographic units during word recognition and reading. However, there is a discrepant finding with the yes/no lexical decision task, where the words with the omitted accent mark produced longer response times than the words with the accent mark. In Experiment 1, we examined this discrepant finding by running a yes/no lexical decision experiment comparing the effects for words and non-words. Results showed sl…

On the Dissociation of Word/Nonword Repetition Effects in Lexical Decision: An Evidence Accumulation Account

2016

A number of models of visual-word recognition assume that the repetition of an item in a lexical decision experiment increases that item's familiarity/wordness. This would produce not only a facilitative repetition effect for words, but also an inhibitory effect for nonwords (i.e., more familiarity/wordness makes the negative decision slower). We conducted a two-block lexical decision experiment to examine word/nonword repetition effects in the framework of a leading “familiarity/wordness” model of the lexical decision task, namely, the diffusion model (Ratcliff et al., 2004). Results showed that while repeated words were responded to faster than the unrepeated words, repeated nonwords were…

Lobbaamisen hallinta toimitustyössä : suosituksia poliittisen päätöksenteon uutisoimisen työkäytäntöihin

2020

Jyväskylän yliopiston journalistiikan oppiaineen kaksi tutkimushanketta (Journalistit lobbaamisen kohteena ja Lobbaamisen hallinta toimitustyössä) selvittivät vuosina 2018– 2020 kuinka uutismediaan vaikutetaan yhteiskunnallisen päätöksenteon viestinnässä ja kuinka toimittajiin kohdistetaan vaikuttajaviestintää eli lobbausta. Hankkeessa tarkasteltiin lobbaajien pyrkimyksiä vaikuttaa toimitusten journalistisiin toimintoihin ja kuinka näitä vaikutusyrityksiä on mahdollista toimitustyössä torjua. Tutkimusaineistoa kerättiin haastattelemalla politiikan ja talouden toimittajia kahdeksasta eri toimituksesta. Tämän lisäksi ensimmäisessä projektissa haastateltiin viestintätoimistoissa työskenteleviä…

Izglītības iestādes darba vadītāja lēmumu pieņemšanas gatavība

2019

National high-resolution conservation prioritisation of boreal forests

2023

The continuous decline of forest biodiversity highlights the importance of the development of cost-effective and ecologically sustainable land-use planning approaches. Spatial conservation prioritisation (SCP) can be regarded as a useful tool for this challenge. We produced high-resolution, national scale SCP analyses to identify unprotected forest areas that host valuable forest biodiversity. We used stand-based modelled dead wood potential (DWP) data as a primary surrogate for conservation value. In addition, data on forestry operations that have negative impacts on biodiversity, connectivity between forest areas, the observations of red-listed forest species, connectivity to forest habit…

A Multi-Criteria Group Decision To Support The Maintenance Service: A Case Study

2015

The present paper wants to propose a methodology to support a group of decision makers into the choice of actions, to implement on a multi-component system, regarding the maintenance service. The choice has to be made on the basis of several criteria, namely the total maintenance cost, the system unavailability and by considering the maintenance actions feasibility. In particular, with the aim to select the maintenance service that represents for the group the best comprise among the criteria to satisfy, the proposed methodology consists of two multi-criteria decisions methods to apply in two successive phases. The first one regards the application of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to…
