Microcredit as a tool for combating financial exclusion in Italy: the differences on a regional and local level

This paper proposes a mapping of microcredit (social and productive) in the period from 2005 to 2013 in three main Italian regions. Later we offer a description of the micro-credit initiatives promoted by cooperative credit banks trying to take advantage of any differences in the initiatives promoted by other types of operators in terms of default rates of loans. The differences will be commented on the basis of the distinctive features of this category of these relationship banks in order to identify a possible way of development of microcredit in Italy

On 31 July 2014, Argentina defaulted on its sovereign bonds for the second time in the 21st century. It was also its eighth default since independence1; at such frequency, this was perhaps not an especially noteworthy event. What made it so extraordinary was not that another domestic financial crisis triggered the payment default, but rather an injunction handed down by a federal district court in New York. This work aims to study the processing differences that occur between deductive logic and default logic. Since the entailments are based on deductive logic and generalised conversational implicatures (GCI) are built from the default logic, two questionnaires were proposed to collect the processing efficiency expressed as the number of hits per minute. The data collected shows that there is a significant difference in the processing of entailments and ICGs: entailments are processed more efficiently than ICGs and, therefore, it is concluded that the default logic requires greater cognitive effort. Demo - A Cell-level Traffic Generator for LoRa Networks

In this demo we present and validate a LoRa cell traffic generator, able to emulate the behavior of thousands of low-rate sensor nodes deployed in the same cell, by using a single Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform. Differently from traditional generators, whose goal is creating packet flows which emulate specific applications and protocols, our focus is generating a combined radio signal, as seen by a gateway, given by the super-position of the signals transmitted by multiple sensors simultaneously active on the same channel. We argue that such a generator can be of interest for testing different network planning solutions for LoRa networks.

Why banks are not too big to fail - evidence from the CDS market

This paper argues that bank size is not a satisfactory measure of systemic risk because it neglects aspects such as interconnectedness, correlation, and the economic context. In order to differentiate the effect of bank size from that of systemic importance, we control for systemic risk using the CoVaR measure introduced by Adrian and Brunnermeier (2011). We show that a bank's contribution to systemic risk has a significant negative effect on banks’ credit default swap (CDS) spreads, supporting the too‐systemic‐to‐fail hypothesis.
