Ei mitään hätää : nuoret ja työttömyyden vaikutukset Marie Jahodan deprivaatioteorian valossa

Nuorisotyöttömyys on vakava kansallinen ja maailmanlaajuinen ongelma. Työttömyys on tutkimusten mukaan ihmisille tragedia, jolle loi pohjan 1930-luvulla itävaltalaista tehdaskylää tutkinut Marie Jahoda kehittämällä työttömyyden deprivaatioteorian. Jahodan mukaan työ järjestää aikaa, toimii sosiaalisten kontaktien, asioiden hallinnan, aktiviteetin ja henkilökohtaisen identiteetin lähteinä yksilölle. Jahodan mielestä huonompikin työ on parempi vaihtoehto kuin työttömyys ja talouden heikentymisestä seuraa henkistä kurjistumista ja se rapauttaa yksilöiden välistä vuorovaikutusta.
