AIM To evaluate the patency of coronary artery bypass grafts with a 2D T2-weighted breath-hold turbo-spin-echo sequence. METHODS 38 patients with 97 grafts (19 internal mammary artery and 78 saphenous vein grafts) and a total of 120 distal anastomoses were studied at 1.5 Tesla in supine position using a phased array body coil. An ECG gated 2D T2-weighted breath-hold turbo-spin-echo sequence (HASTE) was performed. Reference method was selective coronary angiography. The image material was evaluated independently by two radiologists (observer one, a radiological fellow and the second a staff radiologist). BACKGROUND: Postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) negatively affect morbidity, healthcare costs and postsurgical survival. Preoperative and intraoperative peripheral oxyhemoglobin saturation (SpO2) levels are independent risk factors for postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs). The air-test assesses the value of SpO2 while breathing room-air. We aimed at building a clinical score that includes the air-test for predicting the risk for PPCs. Usability of photoplethysmography method in estimation of conduit artery stiffness

Three channel photoplethysmography (PPG) signal waveform studies of leg conduit arteries during a provocative occlusion test were performed. PPG waveform second derivative amplitude ratio and arterial pulse wave velocity values showed significant correlations with ultrasound (US) reference method of local and regional arterial stiffness (AS), showing the ability to use PPG for AS change quantitative assessment.

Cilj: Cilj ovoga rada je prikazati pacijenta s intersticijskim cistitisom u kojega je došlo do stvaranja kamenaca u novoformiranom urinskom spremniku. Prikaz slučaja: Pacijent star 48 godina obrađivan je zbog recidivnih infekcija mokraćnog sustava. Prethodno mu je zbog intersticijskog cistitisa, koji je znatno utjecao na njegovu kvalitetu života, učinjena cistektomija uz oblikovanje urinskog spremnika (Mainz-pouch I). Urološkom obradom pronađena su u području urinskoga spremnika dva velika kamenca dimenzija 77 × 74 mm te 76 × 62 mm uz obostranu hidronefrozu. Although several randomized trials have been performed to compare the outcomes of percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) and coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) in patients with multivessel disease, there is little data available on angiographic follow-up results. The present substudy of the German angioplasty versus bypass surgery investigation (GABI Trial) compares the angiographic revascularization status in these two cases 6 months after treatment. Follow-up angiograms were available in 102 CABG patients and 117 PTCA patients. Application of Molecular Topology for the Prediction of Reaction Yields and Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Heterocyclic Amidine Derivatives

Topological-mathematical models based on multiple linear regression analyses have been built to predict the reaction yields and the anti-inflammatory activity of a set of heterocylic amidine derivatives, synthesized under environmental friendly conditions, using microwave irradiation. Two models with three variables each were selected. The models were validated by cross-validation and randomization tests. The final outcome demonstrates a good agreement between the predicted and experimental results, confirming the robustness of the method.
