Enduring the Autoimmune Aporia of Democratic Sovereignty
2021
The aim of this article is to read Rogues, in order to show that Derrida is neither a philosopher of democracy nor a critic of sovereignty , but rather a thinker of democratic sovereignty. Taking my cue from his Aporias, I argue that democratic sovereignty is aporetically in excess over itself, for it is based on articulating the path through the im-possible passage from the unconditional injunction of the ‘promise’ to the exigency of sovereignty. That is why it can neither be absorbed into the conditions of any existing democracy nor abstracted into any pure identity of sovereignty. Political trends today fail in enduring the aprioricity of aporia, as neoliberals valorize the posited condi…

TIIVISTELMÄ DIFFÉRANCEN TEKO Performatiivisuus Jacques Derridan filosofisessa kirjoituksessa Mari Laaksonen Filosofia pro gradu-tutkielma Yhteiskuntatieteellinen laitos Jyväskylän yliopisto Ohjaajat: Olli-Pekka Moisio ja Jussi Backman Syyslukukausi 2014 59 sivua Tässä tutkielmassa sovellan J.L. Austinin performatiivisuuden käsitettä ranskalaisfilosofi Jacques Derridan muotoileman différancen käsitteen analyysiin fonosentrismin kritiikin sekä strategisen kirjoituksen konteksteissa. Performatiivin käsitteen tausta on J.L. Austin tekemässä erottelussa performatiivisten ja konstatiivisten lausumien välille. Konstatiivit viittaavat lausumiin, jotka kuvailevat jotakin asiantilaa. Image and Copy in Contemporary Deconstruction of Platonism
2017
This paper aims at investigating the relationship between some contemporary Interpretations of Plato's Ontology and the Theory of Image-Copy connection developed in many Dialogues such as Sophist, Philebus, Timaeus and Republic. By examinating some of the most relevant criticisms to this Theory cast by french Philosophers such as Deleuze and Derrida and by retracing the roots of these criticisms to the common source of Nietzsche's and Heidegger's Thought, the paper argues a way to overcome the stiff opposition which is commonly held between these two fronts, thus trying to refine the hermeneutical approach to Plato which almost dominated the XX century.

Hearing Voices in Dreams: Freud's Tossing and Turning with Speech and Writing
2002
In The Interpretation of Dreams, Freud repeatedly claims that there is no original speech in dreams. All dreamed speech is lifted from waking life and used as mutable raw material, whereas thought and writing can occur independently of the dream-work. This article examines Freud's insistence of the unoriginality and mutability of speech, which ostensibly reverses the supposed phonocentric tradition of Western metaphysics. Freud's interpretations, the article suggests, point to the importance of a general linguistic system in the production of meaning in dreams. This system includes non-phonetic writing and the concretization of abstract dream-thoughts into visual images. This concretization…
