Spatial planning concerns activities that have a mapping in space, therefore graphic design is an indispensable part of planning documents. Their content and form change along with the changes in legal regulations and the development of technology. In the article, the author presents how the planning drawings made in the local planning changed in the post-war period, and indicates how they should be prepared at present, taking into account the current legal requirements and technological possibilities.

Daylighting is a strategic topic to achieve sustainable buildings, so it is more and more imperative that it is implemented in architecture curricula to prepare a new generation of daylighting-oriented practitioners. In this frame, the DAYKE project (Daylight Knowledge in Europe) was set up to explore the level of knowledge about daylighting among European professionals and students. DAYKE-Europe was replicated as DAYKE-Italy to study the knowledge of daylight standards, metrics and software among Italian architecture students, and to compare it to that observed within DAYKE-Europe. The EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) 2010/31/EU is a step in the right direction to promote near zero energy buildings (NZEB) in a step-wise manner, starting with minimum energy performance and cost optimal thresholds for “reference buildings” (RBs) for each category. Nevertheless, a standard method for defining RBs does not exist, which led to a great divergence between MS in the level of detail used to define RBs for the EPBD cost-optimal analysis. Art often provides valuable hints for technological innovations especially in the field of Image Processing and Computer Graphics. In this paper we survey in a unified framework several methods to transform raster input images into good quality mosaics. For each of the major different approaches in literature the paper reports a short description and a discussion of the most relevant issues. To complete the survey comparisons among the different techniques both in terms of visual quality and computational complexity are provided.

La Via Balate a Caltabellotta si configura come un percorso in forte pendenza che alterna alle costruzioni una serie di scorci con affascinanti viste sulla valle verso il Canale di Sicilia. La sequenza di spazi residuali viene risolta con la sistemazione di muri di contenimento, scale e rampe, dando luogo ad una successione di spazi di sosta. Il progetto si offre inoltre di valorizzare la roccia calcarea sul quale si fonda l’intera cittadina e che in quest’area affiora ripetutamente.
