O etymologii kilku śląskich dialektyzmów

Etymological research of Silesian dialects lexis enables to present its diverse linguistic and cultural bonds with neighboring dialects and languages. The existing scope and State of lexicographical study of Silesian lexis allows to engage in this extensive research. Not many articles concerning this matter have been published until now. This article discusses the etymology of a few word family originating from the words: kiełb, kisać, kisieć, kisnąć, kiełzać (się), klizać, klejzać as well as from the core kur-l-.

The article contains a semantic and formal analysis of a selected group of phraseological compounds (collected 150 units) recorded in Silesian dialects and talking about the human age. The collected phraseologies creating a thematic field of generał importance AGE AND STAGES OF HUMAN LIFE are divided and characterized within five sub-fields: Childhood, Early youth, Maturity, The process of growing old / Senility and Death. The phraseology of the discussed field is characterized by big imagination, negative evaluation, strong expressive features, multi meaning and semantic biur.

Słownik gwar Śląskich [Dictionary of Silesian Dialects] contains vocabulary from all of the region’s dialects. The dictionary is based on rich lexical materiał, which has been collected sińce the 1950s. The first volume was published in 2000, sińce then thirteen volumes have appeared (containing vocabulary starting with letters from A to J). The core of the materiał is constituted by 20th-eentury vocabulary; however, there are many components of older origin. This study examines how disability service workers identify the discourses of the client-worker relationships. We studied the clientworker relationship from the perspective of the relational dialectics theory with a focus on relational contradictions and the meanings created within discursive struggles. The main purpose of this study is to describe and to understand the intercultural couples’ relationships in Finland from the relational-dialectics perspective by Baxter and Montgomery (1996). Following the interpretive research tradition, in this qualitative study, data were collected from 18 heterosexual intercultural couples (36 persons), utilizing the multi-method approach.
