Designing a Eustress Toolbox : From entrepreneur experiences to an online service

Stress is typically seen as a negative phenomenon. However, the positive side of stress (i.e., eustress) has the potential to improve well-being, productivity, and innovativeness, thus increasing individuals’ daily resources at work. Focusing on eustress could enhance work engagement by turning some of the negatively perceived stressors into positive challenges. We explored this possibility by interviewing 21 Finnish entrepreneurs from various fields regarding their experiences of eustress. Digital technologies have become an inseparable part of most workplace activities. In this article, we discuss the study of digital work in the context of complex organizational practices. We lay out some methodological challenges and suggest some possible solutions to them. Firstly, we contend that we should take into consideration the multimedial nature of organizational practices. High-rate x-ray spectroscopy in mammography with a CdTe detector: A digital pulse processing approach

Purpose:Direct measurement of mammographic x-ray spectra under clinical conditions is a difficult task due to the high fluence rate of the x-ray beams as well as the limits in the development of high resolution detection systems in a high counting rate environment. In this work we present a detection system, based on a CdTe detector and an innovative digital pulse processing (DPP) system, for high-rate x-ray spectroscopy in mammography. This chapter uses the theoretical framework of sense of belonging to explore how eldercare workers from Finnish service housing units for older people describe the use of digital devices and applications in their work and the work practices that relate to their sense of belonging. The study is based on interview data (n = 25) that was collected in 2018 for a study on digitalisation of eldercare. Abstract This descriptive study sought to understand the complexities of integrative processing during collaborative online reading. Student pairs constructed a collaborative understanding while reading online information about a controversial issue by connecting, combining and organizing information that originated from prior knowledge, self-selected online texts, and discussions during an online inquiry task.
