Aims and objectives: The aim of this cross-country Scandinavian study was to explore how residents in nursing homes experience that their dignity is promoted and attended to. This is one part of the Scandinavian project in which we interviewed residents, relatives and staff members. A central task in palliative care is meeting the needs of frail, dying patients in nursing homes. The aim of this study was to investigate how healthcare workers are influenced by and deal with ethical challenges in end-of-life care in nursing homes. The study was inspired by clinical application research. Researchers and clinical staff, as co-researchers, collaborated to shed light on clinical situations and create a basis for new practice. This qualitative study focused on dignity in nursing homes from the perspective of family caregivers. Dignity is a complex concept and central to nursing. Dignity in nursing homes is a challenge, according to research. Family caregivers are frequently involved in their family members’ daily experiences at the nursing home. Twenty-eight family caregivers were included in this Scandinavian cross-country, descriptive, and explorative study. This essay explores the ways in which Conrad's life and letters were inextricably connected with the censorship imposed by three political systems: Tsarist autocracy, Nazi totalitarianism, and Communism. Conrad's oeuvre was itself a “victim” of two regimes of totalitarian censorship and political persecution. In occupied Poland between 1939 and 1945, his writing became a spiritual guide for the young generation, helping them to survive the horrors of the war and occupation. The Italian Constitutional Court (141/2019) rejected the issue on the constitutional legitimacy of the crimes of "recruitment" and "aiding and abetting" prostitution, as proposed by the Court of Appeal of Bari. Nevertheless, the causal links between the behavior of facilitating prostitution and the dangers to freedom, security and dignity of the prostitutes are questionable.
