Association between condylar asymmetry and temporo- mandibular disorders using 3D-CT

Objectives: Using reconstructed three-dimensional computed tomography (3D-CT) models, the purpose of this study was to analyze and compare mandibular condyle morphology in patients with and without temporomandibular disorder (TMD). Study Design: Thirty-two patients were divided into two groups: the first comprised those with TMD (n=18), and the second those who did not have TMD (n=14). A CT of each patient was obtained and reconstructed as a 3D model. Use of three-dimensional ultrasonography for the study of normal and pathologic morphology of the human embryo and fetus: preliminary report.

Our objective was to determine whether three-dimensional ultrasonography offers advantages over two-dimensional sonography for the evaluation of normal and pathologic morphology of human embryos and fetuses at various stages of pregnancy. Our studies suggest that small fetal and embryonic malformations are better defined with 3D sonography. Our experience indicates that 3D sonography allows more detailed visualization of fetal internal structures. We believe that with technical improvements 3D sonography will permit a more complete evaluation of fetuses earlier in gestation than is possible with current 2D sonographic instruments.

Exploring the reciprocal modulation of time and space in dancers and non-dancers.

We explored whether time and space representations modulate each other in subjects that are trained to integrate time and space dimensions, i.e., professional dancers. A group of dancers, and one of non-dancers, underwent two different tasks employing identical stimuli. A first static central line could last one of three possible durations and could have one of three possible lengths. A second growing line appeared from the left or right of the screen and grew up toward the opposite direction at constant velocity. In the Spatial task, subjects encoded the length of the static line and stopped the growing line when it had reached half the length of the static one, regardless of time travel. …

We present a new software tool in a high-resolution Scheimpflug imaging device that precisely simulates the postoperative position of an iris-fixated pIOL and also simulates the effect of aging on the pIOL's position.

The utility of 3D medical imaging techniques for obtaining a reliable differential diagnosis of metastatic cancer in an Iron Age skull.

Abstract In this report we present a case of neoplastic disease affecting an Iron Age skull that provides some of the earliest evidence of metastatic cancer (MC) in Western Europe. The cranium comes from the indigenous site of Baucina (Palermo, Sicily) and was recovered in a multiple burial context dated to the 6th–5th centuries BCE. The skull was attributed to an adult female and was characterized by numerous perforating lytic lesions. CT and 3D imaging analyses were crucial for obtaining a diagnosis of MC. Objectives The purpose of this study was to confirm volume stability of biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) through the changes of grafted volume over the time by 3D CT analyzing software program. Patients and Methods Fifteen patients, 16 sinuses who were scheduled a staged implantation through sinus floor elevation (SFE)–lateral window technique from 2009 to 2011 were included in the study. Normal (non-transformed) human mammary epithelial cell lines derived from reduction mammoplasties were analyzed by immunocytochemistry with more than 80 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and other specific reagents to tissue-specific and developmentally regulated antigens at different passage levels. A subpopulation of poorly differentiated, proliferating epithelial cells, corresponding to the 'selected' cell type of late passages, is shown to be characterized by a new marker, the histo-blood group antigen H type 2, probably carried on a membrane-bound glycolipid. Abstract Background: higher level of aggression and antisocial behavior are frequent following head trauma, due to specific brain alterations. Many tests are used to assess this aspect. A descriptive review was conducted on the main tests used to detect the appearance of aggressive dimensions following traumatic brain injury. A new 3D method for measuring cranio-facial relationships with cone beam computed tomography (CBCT)
