The Relationship Between Tooth Size Discrepancy and Archform Classification in Orthodontic Patients
2015
Background: To determine the relationship between clinically significant tooth size discrepancies (TSD) and archform classification in orthodontic patients. Material and Methods: Two hundred and forty consecutive sets of pre-treatment orthodontic study models were scanned and landmarked. All models had permanent teeth erupted from first molar to first molar in both arches. Sixty sets of images were classified into two groups of 30 according to the presence (group 1) or absence (group 2) of a clinically significant overall or anterior TSD (>2 SD from Bolton’s original means). Mean upper and lower archforms were created for each group using a fourth degree polynomial curve. Upper and lower ar…
Jauni ieskati kvantu automātu stāvokļu skaita efektivitātē
2022
Tooth size discrepancy in a Libyan population, a cross-sectional study in schoolchildren
2014
Objetives: The aim of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the tooth size discrepancy (TSD) in a group of Libyan schoolchildren, and to compare TSD between sexes. Material and Methods: The sample comprised 333 Libyan schoolchildren (162 males with a mean (SD) age of 14.4 (1.1) years, and 171 females with a mean age of 14.1 (1.1) years). Anterior and overall TSD ratios were computed using descriptive statistics. Sex differences were statistically assessed using an independent t-test ( P 0.05). The percentages of participants showing more than 2 SD variation for the anterior and overall ratios comprised 3% and 4.2% of the total sample, respectively. Conclusions: The anterior and over…
La percepción de la funcionalidad familiar. Confirmación de su estructura bifactorial (The perception of the family functionality. Confirmation of it…
2012
Valid, reliable and easy-to-use instruments are required for the assessment of family functionality. The present study confirms the two-factor structure of a 23-item family Functionality Scale, providing indices of reliability and external validity in a sample of 185 families with teenage children. Parent discrepancy is analyzed, and the statistical descriptors of this variable are presented in the two dimensions that constitute the scale: Facilitator and Disturber. The instrument is useful for assessing functionality and for calculating parental discrepancy in the perception of family life, which is also an indicator of functionality.
Achieving agreement on service needs in child protection : Comparing children’s, mothers’ and practitioners’ views over time and between approaches
2022
Purpose While studies on service users’ participation and their perceptions on the quality of services exist, agreement between family members’ and practitioners’ assessments of the family’s situation has received less interest. The purpose of this paper is to investigate agreement and its effect on outcomes by comparing the viewpoints of three groups of informants (children, mothers and practitioners) in the context of statutory child protection in two study groups – one applying a systemic approach (SPM) and a service-as-usual control group (SAU). Design/methodology/approach A quasi-experimental repeated-measures study design was applied. Outcome data comprised 112 cases (SPM cases n = 5…
Sense of quality of life and self-discrepancy - differences between social science and technology students
2020
The main purpose of the research is to determine personality predictors related to a new model of the sense of quality of life in a diverse group of students. The study is based on the self-discrepancy theory developed by Higgins, and the Personality and Axiological Model developed by Mróz. Method. Sixty four (64) pedagogy students and 62 electrical engineering students were the subjects of the research. The Adjective Check List test (ACL), the Modified Quality of Life Questionnaire as well as interview and observation were applied in the research. Results. Individuals with low self-discrepancy achieved significantly better results in Competences, Relationships, and Autonomy as part of the …
