Building on Ilse van Liempt’s (2023) lecture, this commentary addresses the connection and shift between forced displacement and local emplacement by addressing what becoming part of the city means for racialized immigrants. By bringing forward the notion of racialization I hope to contribute to a growing body of literature discussing how malleable and productive the concept of race – albeit erased and relegated to the past – keeps on shaping conversations about and across Europe. Tutkimuksen tehtävänä on selvittää, kuinka sosiaalityöntekijät perustelevat lastensuojelun palvelutarpeen arvioinnin prosessin aikana tekemiään päätöksiä, kun lastensuojeluilmoitus on tehty vanhemman päihteidenkäytön vuoksi. Päihteidenkäytön vaikutusta lapsiin ja perheisiin on tutkittu laajasti ja päihteiden käytön negatiivisista vaikutuksista perheiden hyvinvointiin on kiistattomat tulokset. Omien työkokemusten perusteella heräsi kiinnostus tutkia lastensuojelun puuttumisen kynnystä ja sitä suhtautuvatko sosiaalityöntekijät eri tavalla alkoholin käyttäjiin ja huumeiden käyttäjiin. In early 2012 the Sahel area in sub-Saharan Africa was facing shortage in food and millions of people were in risk of hunger. In my Bachelor´s thesis I´m investigating the coverage of the Sahel crisis of 2012 in two Finnish main media; the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat and the online news of Finnish broadcasting company Yle (http://yle.fi/uutiset/). My data was collected between January and September in 2012 and it consisted fifteen different articles. Tutkielman tarkoituksena on tarkastella, kuinka 1970-luvun brittiläistä yhteiskuntaa käsitellään Siouxsie and the Banshees -yhtyeen sanoituksissa. Siouxsie and the Banshees perustettiin 1970-luvun lopulla punk-musiikin jälkimainingeissa ja sitä pidetään yhtenä ensimmäisistä goottirock-yhtyeistä. Drawing on the concept of micro-political resistance, this article presents an empirical analysis of how officers of the Finnish Defence Forces challenge, resist, and reinforce the collective military identities constructed within the prevailing organizational discourses. There is a need for identity work to meet the norms and ideals of the military, but individuals can also work as change agents. Abstract The icc represents a legal laboratory that is still consolidating itself, with multiple unclarities in evidence and procedural law requiring resolution through jurisprudence. Our paper draws on interaction analysis to unpack this process, focusing on the jurisprudential construction of ‘dual status’ victim participant testimony. To elucidate how this evidentiary/procedural element is locally negotiated, we examine an excerpt from the Ongwen hearing transcripts, in which the defense objects against the testimony by a dual status witness called by the victim participants’ legal representative.
