A prospective study on an innovative online forum for peer reviewing of surgical science

Background Peer review is important to the scientific process. However, the present system has been criticised and accused of bias, lack of transparency, failure to detect significant breakthrough and error. At the British Journal of Surgery (BJS), after surveying authors' and reviewers' opinions on peer review, we piloted an open online forum with the aim of improving the peer review process. There has been an increase in research published on information behavior in recent years, and this has been accompanied by an increase in its diversity and interaction with other fields, particularly information retrieval (HR). The aims of this study are to determine which researchers have contributed to producing the current body of knowledge on this subject, and to describe its intellectual basis. Abstract This article considers the implementation of a new learning subject ”Technology Comprehension” into lower secondary schools in Denmark, as part of an initiative by the Danish Ministry of Education. Introduction The aim of this study is to analyze articles published in orthodontic journals included in Journal Citation Reports (JCR) to determine current trends in orthodontic publishing. Methods Articles included in orthodontic journals in 2016 JCR and published during 2007-2017 were selected. After applying inclusion criteria, author-based parameters (article title, first author's name, institution and sex, number of authors, number of affiliations, first author's origin, and geographic origin), article-based parameters (article type, main topic, and research design), and the number of cites and self-cites were registered for each article.
