Digitization Practice in Latvia: Achievements and Trends of Development

The 1980s are characterized by rapid development of digitization process and research of digital libraries. In 1994 Latvia was also involved in this process with the first attempt to digitize the materials of high demand and in poor physical condition at the Latvian Academic Library. In 1998 the digitization process was launched at the National Library of Latvia. The study, the first results of which are presented in this publication, is made to analyze the history of digitization in Latvia, and to evaluate the achievements of these activities. BACKGROUND Implant dentistry is subject to major economic pressures as a result of the growth in the manufacturing and commercialization of dental implants. PURPOSE To examine research funding in implant dentistry by means of a bibliometric analysis of articles indexed in Web of Science (WoS) published during the period 2008-2017. MATERIALS AND METHODS The search was conducted applying the truncated term "implant*" in the WoS dentistry area. Only items labeled as "article" or "review" were selected. The research activity of information on the internet has become common in our daily life. Despite this fact, it still raises many problems for the user who does not find the information they want or is lost to the amount of information available. This study aims at testing a new patented preview device, enabling users to browse and view pages in depth. The task is to find a target apartment with one or more specific criteria in a real estate agency designed website. Several conditions were tested. Discrete Mathematics in Lower School Grades? Situation and Possibilities in Italy

This paper presents an overview of the Italian situation in teaching discrete mathematics in primary and middle school, taking into account the national teaching guidelines and their connection with the subject. We describe research conducted with about 150 teachers, interviewed in a preliminary questionnaire. The data collected shows, for all teaching grades, interest in having more discrete mathematics in the school curriculum even if there are some difficulties in teaching it and in inserting it in the usual mathematical activities at school, mostly related to teachers’ knowledge and self-confidence about the subject.
