Progressive Development of Renal Vascular Dysfunction in Brain Death Implicates Reversible Alterations of Nitric Oxide Metabolism

Vascular endothelial dysfunction occurs in the kidney graft from marginal brain death (BD) donors and may be responsible for a low success rate after transplantation.BD was induced in 16 dogs for 6 hours. Immediately after the inflation of the intracranial balloon, the treated group (n = 8) received 40 mg/kg bolus followed by 3 mg/kg/min infusion of L-arginine for 30 minutes. Il clopidogrel per espletare la propria funzione di antiaggregante piastrinica necessita l’intervento di diversi citocromi epatici. Le varianti del gene CYP2C19 sembrano influenzarne sensibilmente l’attivazione e pertanto l’azione farmacologica. Sono stati identificati tre alleli principali. L’allele CYP2C19*1 è il wild type e codifica per un enzima costituzionalmente attivo. Gli alleli CYP2C9*2 e CYP2C9*3 codificano invece per forme enzimatiche parzialmente funzionanti e sono responsabili sia in eterozigosi che in omozigosi della variazione di attività farmacologica. A new simple approach to evaluate pedogenic clay transformation in a Vertic Calcisol

The aim of this study is to characterize the pedogenic clay minerals by using simple approach: Mixing mineralogical and geochemical findings. The fine clay fractions (< 0.1 μm) of a Vertic Cambisol profile were studied by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and cation exchange capacity (CEC). Qualitative and quantitative mineralogical compositions of the clay mixture were determined. Annexin II is present on renal epithelial cells and binds calcium oxalate monohydrate crystals.

Attachment of newly formed crystals to renal epithelial cells appears to be a critical step in the development of kidney stones. The current study was undertaken to identify potential calcium oxalate monohydrate (COM) crystal-binding proteins on the surface of renal tubular cells. Apical membranes were prepared from confluent monolayers of renal epithelial cells (MDCKI line), and COM crystal affinity was used to isolate crystal-binding proteins that were then subjected to electrophoresis and electroblotting. Abstract The fractionation of H isotopes in global precipitation leads to a continuous decrease in 2 H concentrations of precipitation with increasing latitude, altitude and continentality. Thus, the local precipitation, soil and ground water used by plants for photosynthesis or consumed during neoformation of pedogenic clay minerals often have a spatially diagnostic δ 2 H value. Sphingomyelin induces structural alteration in canine parvovirus capsid.

One of the essential steps in canine parvovirus (CPV) infection, the release from endosomal vesicles, is dominated by interactions between the virus capsid and the endosomal membranes. In this study, the effect of sphingomyelin and phosphatidyl serine on canine parvovirus capsid and on the phospholipase A(2) (PLA(2)) activity of CPV VP1 unique N-terminus was analyzed. Accordingly, a significant (P< or =0.05) shift of tryptophan fluorescence emission peak was detected at pH 5.5 in the presence of sphingomyelin, whereas at pH 7.4 a similar but minor shift was observed.
