The main mechanism of action of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) is the inhibition of cycloxygenases COX-1 and COX-2. During recent years, combined 5-LOX/COX-inhibition, interfering with the biosynthesis of both prostaglandins and leukotrienes (LTs), has emerged as a possibility to avoid side effects related to COX-inhibition. The aim of the present study was to investigate if there is a contribution of mechanisms other than the reduction of inflammatory prostaglandins and leukotrienes to the anti-inflammatory effect of the LOX/COX inhibitor licofelone. However, their perfomance is significantly affected by vegetation activity during the year. The aims of the present study were to assess the treatment of dairy wastewater (DWW) by a horizontal subsurface flow system (HSSFs) and the effect of plants in the removal efficiency (RE) of BOD5, COD, total N (TN) and total P (TP), in Sicily (Italy). A new family of Odonatoptera from the continental Upper Permian: The Lapeyriidae (Lodève Basin, France)

Abstract The new family Lapeyriidae of Odonatoptera, based on a new genus and species from the Upper Permian of Lodevois (France) is the sister group of Nodialata. It represents an evolutionary link between the venation type of the Paleozoic Meganisoptera and that of Odonata. Even if the present discovery demonstrates that the fossil record of the Odonatoptera remains imperfectly known, the present state of knowledge shows that this super order survived the mass extinction at the Permo-Triassic boundary.
Farmland versus forest: comparing changes in Odonata species composition in western and eastern Sweden

Despite the loss of natural ecosystems in the developed world dur- ing the past millennia, anthropogenic landscapes still sustain much biodiversity. Our question was, whether ten year changes in regional Odonata faunas are comparable between farmland and forested areas, or if the species pool of farm- land areas respond in other ways than that of forest. 2. We used data of dragonfly larvae collected from 16 lakes in a farmland area in south-western Sweden in the years 2002 and 2011/12, and compared these to data from 34 lakes in a forest area in south-eastern Sweden in the years 1996 and 2006. 3. Introduction Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic there has been some debate regarding the risk of transmission through tissue transplantation and tissue banking processes. Aim of the study To analyze the changes that SARS-CoV-2 has caused regarding the harvesting of corneal donor tissue and eye bank activities in Germany. Methods A questionnaire was provided to 26 eye banks in Germany, consisting of questions about adaptations made in the screening of potential donors and the harvesting of corneal tissue following the pandemic spread of SARS-CoV-2.
