Thermo-hygrometry and IAQ Related Measurements of the Indoor Physical Conditions of Exhibition Halls for Complying International Rules and Standards

2018

Off-line methods for detecting the indoor physical parameters of museums are important tools in order of continuously monitoring the conditions at which works of art are exposed. These conditions, in fact, are mandatory established by several rules and technical standards aimed at preserving the specific artifacts. Moreover, indoor microclimate parameters must also take into account the comfort conditions for visiting people. Both the above-cited requirements suggest to perform the indoor monitoring with equipment visually low impacting. In this paper, some examples of visually low impacting off-line monitoring methods, applied to three artifacts displayed in the “Museo Regionale” of Palerm…

Seasonal Changes in physiological parameters in young club level rowers

2013

Aims: To evaluate variations in biometrics, physiological and performance parameters over a seasonal training – from September to March - in club level young rowers. Methods: Six young rowers, age 13-15, affiliated with a rowing club member of the Italian Rowing Federation, were assessed three times at regular three-months intervals (September, December, and March) during the 2011 season. Biometrics evaluations included stature, body mass and body composition, whereas physiological assessments on rowing ergometer included maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max) obtained during an incremental test, and average power output values obtained during a 2000m trial (W2000) and during a 20-sec (W20) and a 6…

Indoor floors from Gien (8th-10th c. AD). Buildings materials, use of space and formation processes

2017

International audience; The refurbishing of the National museum of hunting at Gien (France) offers the opportunity to uncover the early castral occupation (8th-10th c. AD). High status habitats have been explored by archaeological and geoarchaeological methods, including micromorphology. The very well preservation of indoor floors allows to get data on building materials and the use of space, such as domestic housing, craft working and cereal processing.

Indoor noise exposure assessment of primary school children living in a french urban area

2012

International audience; The recent development of powerful noise mapping softwares allows to assess the exposure to environmental noise at the scale of an agglomeration. However noise levels inside dwellings are still unknown at such scales. To evaluate indoor noise levels and to investigate the factors which determine them, an eight-day noise measurement campaign was carried out in 50 children’s home. These children were randomly chosen among 8 or 9-year-old pupils attending the public primary schools of Besançon (France). Microphones were placed in the child’s bedroom, outdoor in front of the bedroom’s facade, and in the main room. Equivalent sound pressure levels (LAeq) were calculated d…

Methodological Considerations for Movement Education Interventions in Natural Environments for Primary School Children: A Scoping Review.

2022

Background: Education is the ideal setting for carrying out projects to improve primary students’ capacities. In recent years, interventions in natural environments have been more frequently proposed, but there is still a lack of standardization, making deeper study of the topic necessary. This review aims to report on what previous scientific research has been carried out, and eventually, to propose standard operating procedures for future interventions. Methods: This is a scoping review that adopted the PRISMA guidelines. Primary school children have been included, and the interventions had to be proposed adopting nature as the primary element of the learning process. Results: A total of …

Does Learning Through Movement Improve Academic Performance in Primary Schoolchildren? A Systematic Review

2022

Physically active children have greater motor competence and a faster maturation compared with their sedentary peers. Recent research also suggests that physical activity during childhood may also promote cognitive development and therefore improve academic performance. The aim of this study was to understand if physically active academic lessons may improve academic achievement in primary schoolchildren. A systematic review following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines was conducted. The search was performed on the following database: PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), and PsycINFO (APA). Stu…
