Transport and magnetic properties of La1−xCaxMnO3-films (0.1<x<0.9)
2000
Abstract By laser ablation we prepared thin films of the colossal magnetoresistive compound La1−xCaxMnO3 with doping levels 0.1 10 13 Ω have been measured with an electrometer setup. While the transport data indicate polaronic transport for the metallic samples above the Curie temperature the low-doped ferromagnetic insulating samples show a variable range hopping like transport at low-temperature.
Excited-state lifetimes of [Fe (bipy)3]2+ and [Fe(phen)3]2+
1990
Abstract In the low-spin [Fe(bipy)3]2+ (bipy = 2,2′,bipyridine) and [Fe(phen)3]2+ (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) complexes an excited high-spin 5T2 ligand field state can be populated by irradiating into the 1MLCT absorption band at 530 nm. The lifetimes of this excited state at low temperatures are reported for [Fe(bipy)3]2+ doped into [Zn(bipy)3] (PF6)2 and [Zn(bipy)3] (BF4)2 and for [Fe(phen)3]2+ and [Fe(bipy)3]2+ embedded in the ion exchange polymer Nafion. For [Fe(bipy)3]2+ in [Zn(bipy)3](PF6)2 the observed lifetimes decrease from 1600 ns at 10 K to 14 ns at 125 K.
Spectroscopic investigations of matrix effects induced by silicate xerogels prepared by the sol-gel method on the entrapped Cr(NCS) 6 3− ions
1999
Abstract Time- and temperature-resolved electronic absorption end emission spectra of silicate xerogels made via the sol-gel technique and doped with K 3 [Cr(NCS) 6 ] have been obtained. These results, along with excited states lifetime measurements, document an unexpected colour change of the entrapped chromium complex from violet to green. By varying the conditions of the doped xerogels preparation, it has been shown that the observed colour transition can not be attributed to ligand exchange with NH 3 or water molecules. On the other hand, the oxygen-rich network of silicate xerogels might be responsible for the observed behaviour. It has been shown that dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), while d…
Luminescence and scintillation properties of Mg-codoped LuAG:Pr single crystals annealed in air
2017
Abstract The influence of the Mg 2+ codoping and annealing in the air on the scintillation and luminescence characteristics of Pr-doped lutetium-aluminum garnet crystals (LuAG) was studied to find a possible positive effect of Pr 4+ . The overall scintillation efficiency under X-ray excitation of the annealed Pr- doped samples decreased with increasing Mg concentration. This was explained by increased overlap of the Pr 3+ 5d-4f emission with the charge-transfer (CT) absorption band of the Pr 4+ ion stabilized by Mg 2+ . This absorption caused even greater decrease of the light yield, as the light is collected from the whole sample volume in the pulse-height spectrum measurement. Electron ce…
Upconversion luminescence of a transparent glass ceramics with hexagonal Na(Gd,Lu)F4 nanocrystals
2017
Novel Er3+ doped transparent glass ceramics containing hexagonal Na(Gd,Lu)F4 nanocrystals were prepared from oxyfluoride glasses. The distribution of rare earth ions in the crystalline and glassy phase has been analyzed by X-ray diffraction and erbium luminescence decay kinetics measurement. A strong deviation of rare earth ion content in fluoride nanocrystals in comparison to the base glass has been observed. Preferential incorporation of Gd3+ over Lu3+ ions in the fluoride lattice leads to the stabilization of hexagonal Na(Gd,Lu)F4 structure and prevents the formation of cubic fluorite type solid solutions. A considerable enhancement of upconversion luminescence correlates with the format…

Electron paramagnetic resonance and photoluminescence investigation of europium local structure in oxyfluoride glass ceramics containing SrF2 nanocry…
2017
Different compositions of europium doped aluminosilicate oxyfluoride glass ceramics prepared in air atmosphere have been studied by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and optical spectroscopy methods. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements show presence of homogenously distributed SrF2 nanocrystals after the heat treatment of the precursor glass. Efficient Eu3+ incorporation in the high symmetry environment of glass ceramics is observed from the photoluminescence spectra. EPR spectra indicate Eu3+ → Eu2+ reduction upon precipitation of crystalline phases in the glass matrix. For composition abundant with Eu2+ in the glassy state such behaviour is …

Consumption of anabolic steroids in sport, physical activity and as a drug of abuse: an analysis of the scientific literature and areas of research.
2007
Objective The consumption of anabolic steroids (AS) has been growing continuously in recent years. It has gone beyond the sports world; AS are now widely used as drugs of abuse in connection with bodybuilding. This study sets out to assess the state of scientific research in the area. Design Bibliometrics were employed to evaluate the literature retrieved from the principal relevant bibliographic databases: MEDLINE, SportDiscus, the Science Citation Index Expanded and the Social Sciences Citation Index. The core journals were identified along with the leading authors and research groups and their institutional affiliations. Techniques based on social network analysis were applied in order t…
Mean-field theory for superconductivity in twisted bilayer graphene
2018
Recent experiments show how a bilayer graphene twisted around a certain magic angle becomes superconducting as it is doped into a region with approximate flat bands. We investigate the mean-field $s$-wave superconducting state in such a system and show how the state evolves as the twist angle is tuned, and as a function of the doping level. We argue that part of the experimental findings could well be understood to result from an attractive electron--electron interaction mediated by electron--phonon coupling, but the flat-band nature of the excitation spectrum makes also superconductivity quite unusual. For example, as the flat-band states are highly localized around certain spots in the st…
