The solubility of Co in TiO2 anatase and rutile and its effect on the magnetic properties
2009
Co-doped anatase and rutile bulk-samples prepared by the sol-gel technique are found to be paramagnetic at room-temperature. Only further annealing in Ar/H{sub 2} gas results in a ferromagnetic behavior. X-ray diffraction and electron-microscope studies reveal for low doping levels =4%. The observed Co oxides are reduced by Ar/H{sub 2} to Co metal. The room-temperature ferromagnetism can therefore be traced back to a segregation of metallic Co. - Graphical abstract: Co-doped anatase and rutile bulk-samples prepared by the sol-gel technique are paramagnetic at room-temperature. Boron–nitrogen substituted dihydroindeno[1,2-b]fluorene derivatives as acceptors in organic solar cells
2019
The electrophilic borylation of 2,5-diarylpyrazines results in the formation of boron–nitrogen doped dihydroindeno[1,2-b]fluorene which can be synthesized using standard Schlenk techniques and worked up and handled readily under atmospheric conditions. Through transmetallation via diarylzinc reagents a series of derivatives were synthesized which show broad visible to near-IR light absorption profiles that highlight the versatility of this BN substituted core for use in optoelectronic devices. The synthesis is efficient, scalable and allows for tuning through changes in substituents on the planar heterocyclic core and at boron. Exploratory evaluation in organic solar cell devices as non-ful…
Sportistu procesuālās garantijas un to īstenošanas problēmas antidopinga jomā
2021
Direct observation of spin diffusion enhanced nonadiabatic spin torque effects in rare-earth-doped permalloy
2018
The relation between the nonadiabaticity parameter $\ensuremath{\beta}$ and the damping parameter $\ensuremath{\alpha}$ is investigated in permalloy-based microdisks. In order to determine $\ensuremath{\beta}$, high-resolution imaging of the current-induced vortex-core displacement is performed using scanning electron microscopy with polarization analysis. The materials properties of the films are varied via rare-earth Dy doping, leading to a greatly enhanced damping, while retaining the same spin configuration for the confined vortex state. A clear trend to much higher nonadiabaticity values is seen for the higher doping levels and an averaged value of $\ensuremath{\beta}=(0.29\ifmmode\pm\…
Dielectric characterization and ionic conductivity of α-LiIO3 crystals related to the growth conditions
2000
Abstract The dielectric response of α-LiIO3 has been studied at room temperature between 20 Hz and 1 MHz with various types of electrodes and compared to the results in the literature. By changing the sample thickness, a relaxation of space charges is clearly identified and the bulk ionic conductivity is deduced from the admittance diagram. Finally a comparison is carried out between chromium doped and undoped crystals obtained from acid and neutral growth solutions.
Dielectric properties and ac conductivities of Bi1−xSmxFeO3 ceramics
2019
Dielectric permittivity, dielectric losses and ac-conductivity of polycrystalline Bi1−xSmxFeO3 (x = 0; 0.05; 0.1; 0.15; 0.2) are measured in the frequency range 1 kHz–10 MHz and in the temperature range 25–600 °C. Anomalies have been observed at the 200 °C, 300 °C and at the Néel temperature. It has been demonstrated that doping with Sm has enhanced the dielectric properties and increased conduction in the frequency region 1 MHz) and at a certain temperature Tm, depending on the composition Bi1−xSmxFeO3, the conductivity reaches a maximum. The results are discussed with reference to the model of correlated barrier hopping.
Semi-empirical calculations of the Nb-ion positions in doped crystals
1998
The atomic and electronic structures of Nb impurities in doped perovskite KTaO3 crystals are calculated using the semi-empirical quantum chemical method of the intermediate neglect of the differential overlap (INDO) and a supercell model. When seven Ta ions are replaced by seven Nb ions, the latter clearly demonstrate self-ordering effects which are related to the experimentally observed impurity-induced phase transition. A single Nb impurity reveals an off-centre displacement which is very close to that found in XAFS experiments. The relevant energy gain is very small, approximately 0.0375 eV, which is much smaller than the Nb-clustering energy gain (0.12 eV). These results led us to the c…
Effect of pressure on the luminescence properties of Nd3+ doped SrWO4 laser crystal
2008
Abstract The luminescence spectra of the 4 F 3/2 → 4 I 9/2 transition of Nd 3+ ions in a SrWO 4 crystal have been analyzed as a function of pressure at room temperature. Experiments have been performed in a diamond-anvil cell up to 13 GPa. At around 10 GPa some changes in the emission spectra have been observed which are attributed to a structural phase transition of the SrWO 4 matrix. These results are in good agreement with a previous paper, in which in a pure SrWO 4 matrix a scheelite to fergusonite phase transition is found around 10.5 GPa. Moreover, with increasing pressure, the decay curves from the 4 F 3/2 are nonexponential and faster indicating that the energy transfer processes …
Novel phase transitions in B-site doped manganites
2005
We have examined the infrared reflectivity and the electrical resistivity of La 1-x [Sr(Ba)] x Mn 1-z [Cu(Zn)] z O 3 samples in ferromagnetic metallic and insulator regime. Several phase transitions are observed, the most obvious being the transition from a ferromagnetic metallic to a ferromagnetic insulator phase that is related to the formation of short-range orbitally ordered domains. The temperature T 1 of the phase transition is dependent on doping concentration and for optimally doped samples (∼32% of Mn 4+ ions) we have found T 1 0.93 T C .
