Echocardiographic reference ranges for normal cardiac Doppler data: results from the NORRE Study
2015
International audience; AIMS: Reference values for Doppler parameters according to age and gender are recommended for the assessment of heart physiology, specifically for left ventricular (LV) diastolic function. In this study, we report normal reference ranges for Doppler parameters obtained in a large group of healthy volunteers. Echocardiographic data were acquired using state-of-the-art cardiac ultrasound equipment following Doppler acquisition and measurement protocols approved by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging. METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 449 (mean age: 45.8 ± 13.7 years) healthy volunteers (198 men and 251 women) were enrolled at the collaborating institutions…
Dobutamine stress Doppler echocardiography: reproducibility and physiologic left ventricular filling patterns
1997
Qualitatively, dobutamine stress echocardiography has become an established procedure. Quantitative results are in great demand but this is still difficult due to limited endo- and epicardial border definition. Transmitral Doppler variables are strictly quantitative and less subjective. Furthermore, ischemic alterations precede systolic ones (ischemic cascade). There are preliminary reports of the utility of dobutamine stress Doppler echocardiography, but proof of reproducibility and left ventricular filling patterns are still lacking. Fourteen healthy volunteers (10 men, 4 women, median age 25.9 years, range 21-32 years) were investigated according to the usual dobutamine stress echocardio…
Evidence of impaired left ventricular systolic function by Doppler myocardial imaging in patients with systemic amyloidosis and no evidence of cardia…
2007
We examined the potential role of Doppler myocardial imaging for early detection of systolic dysfunction in patients with systemic amyloidosis (AL) but without evidence of cardiac involvement by standard echocardiography. We identified 42 patients without 2-dimensional echocardiographic or Doppler evidence of cardiac involvement. These patients had normal ventricular wall thickness and normal velocity of the medial mitral annulus. Myocardial images were obtained in these patients and in 32 age- and gender-matched healthy controls. Peak longitudinal systolic tissue velocity (sTVI), systolic strain rate (sSR), and systolic strain (sS) were determined for 16 left ventricular segments. Radial a…
High-Resolution Spectroscopy in Fast Atomic Beams
1977
Narrow optical resonances have been observed in fast beams of Na and Cs atoms, obtained from ion beams by charge-transfer collisions with Na, K, or Cs. Corresponding to the narrowing of the velocity distribution, occurring by acceleration, the Doppler width along the beam direction is considerably reduced [1, 2].
Positron Annihilation with Electrons of Admixture Atoms in Some Binary Nickel Alloys
2005
Weighted difference curves have been shortly presented as a proper tool allowing to analyze in another way two-detector Doppler spectra regarding positron annihilation with admixture electrons in some nickel alloys. The analysis of low and middle momentum parts of Doppler spectra for investigated alloys reflects the annihilation of positrons with admixture electrons. There is no distinct signal of annihilations with admixture electrons from the positron lifetime data for well-annealed samples.
ECRIS plasma spectroscopy with a high resolution spectrometer
2020
Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source (ECRIS) plasmas contain high-energy electrons and highly charged ions implying that only noninvasive methods such as optical emission spectroscopy are reliable in their characterization. A high-resolution spectrometer (10 pm FWHM at 632 nm) enabling the detection of weak emission lines has been developed at University of Jyväskylä, Department of Physics (JYFL) for this purpose. Diagnostics results probing the densities of ions, neutral atoms, and the temperature of the cold electron population in the JYFL 14 GHz ECRIS are described. For example, it has been observed that the cold electron temperature drops from 40 eV to 20 eV when the extraction volta…
First demonstration of Doppler-free 2-photon in-source laser spectroscopy at the ISOLDE-RILIS
2020
Abstract Collinear Doppler-free 2-photon resonance ionization has been applied inside a hot cavity laser ion source environment at CERN-ISOLDE. An injection-seeded Ti:sapphire ring laser was used to generate light pulses with a Fourier-limited linewidth for high-resolution spectroscopy. Using a molybdenum foil as a reflective surface positioned at the end of the target transfer line, rubidium was successfully ionized inside the hot cavity. The results are presented alongside previously obtained data from measurements performed at the RISIKO mass separator at Mainz University, where collinear and perpendicular ionization geometries were tested inside an RFQ ion guide. This work is a pre-curs…

Determination of the intrinsic quadrupole moment of the superdeformed band in 143Eu
1995
The intrinsic quadrupole moment, Q0, of the superdeformed band in 143Eu has been extracted from nuclear lifetimes, measured in a Doppler shift attenuation method experiment. Data were collected with the NORDBALL gamma-ray spectrometer following the reaction 110Pd (37Cl, 4n) 143Eu at a beam energy of 160 MeV. A centroid shift analysis of the data was carried out, using the Braune stopping powers to model the slowing down of the recoil nuclei in the target and backing materials. This gave a value of Q0 = 13.0 ± 1.5 eb for the band. The result is in good agreement with the theoretical prediction of Total Routhian Surface calculations, and supports the assigned single particle configuration, in…
Prolate-oblate shape coexistence in Kr-75
1998
Abstract The collective bands of 75Kr were extended up to spin 45 2 using the compound reactions 50Cr(28Si,2pn), 54Fe(24Mg,2pn) and 58Ni(20Ne,2pn)75Kr. Lifetimes were measured by RDDS with nine OSIRIS detectors in coincidence. Mixing ratios were determined by measurements of internal conversion coefficients, angular distribution and correlations. Deviations between different measurements are explained by the short lifetimes leading to angle dependent intensity losses due to Doppler shift. Spins and parities were assigned from angular distributions, excitation functions and DCO ratios measured with the OSIRIS_12 spectrometer. The band head spin of the negative parity yrast band was establish…
