Dialogicality in teaching process drama : three narratives, three frameworks

This case study explores dialogicality in teaching process drama through the narratives and practices of three experienced drama teachers of the Open University. Dialogue is understood here in the context of ‘I-Thou’ attitude and as the phenomenon of heteroglossia. The analyses of the videotaped reflective interviews with the teachers and process dramas revealed a polyphonic picture of dialogicality in the teaching process, in which juxtapositions of communion and alterity are favoured. These findings may help drama teachers to become more conscious about the challenges and possibilities of generating a fluid and energised dialogicality in process drama. peerReviewed

In the context of psychiatric rehabilitation and care, home is often associated with health. In the context of deinstitutionalization, however, home has increasingly become the primary site of psychiatric suffering. Jyväskylän yliopiston Kielikampus toteutti kuluvan lukuvuoden 2017–2018 aikana opettajien täydennyskoulutuksen nimeltä VarKi eli Varhaista kielenoppimista kaikkialla. Tavoitteena oli löytää uusia keinoja kieliohjelman varhentamiseksi Suomessa. Teorialähtöisten kontaktiviikonloppujen lisäksi koulutukseen kuului kieliprojektin toteuttaminen koulussa tai päiväkodissa. Tässä artikkelissa kerron omasta kieliprojektistani, jonka toteutin alakoulun esikoululaisten, 1.–6.-luokkalaisten ja koulun henkilökunnan kanssa. Research on drama work among non-speech persons with cognitive, functional and interaction impairments is scarce. This pilot study describes a type of drama suitable for special education and care, in which daily care providers step into a sensory story with their disabled pairs. Participants focus their attention on a shared target and gain shared involvement. They get embodied knowledge in space and time.
