Bidirectional labeling for solving vehicle routing and truck driver scheduling problems

Abstract This paper studies the vehicle routing and truck driver scheduling problem where routes and schedules must comply with hours of service regulations for truck drivers. It presents a backward labeling method for generating feasible schedules and shows how the labels generated with the backward method can be combined with labels generated by a forward labeling method. The bidirectional labeling is embedded into a branch-and-price-and-cut approach and evaluated for hours of service regulations in the United States and the European Union. This paper presents a multi-agent platform to evaluate different strategies to manage the negotiated management of parking spaces in road rest areas. The system dynamically adapts itself to the preferences and needs of the drivers of goods about parking requests. The system is shown to be robust to incidents regarding the closure of road rest areas and allows a conversational interaction of new parking requests through an Android based mobile application.

Distraction effects of three alternative touch screen scrolling methods for searching music tracks on a mobile device were studied in a driving simulation experiment with 24 participants. Page-bypage scrolling methods with Buttons or Swipe that better facilitate resumption of visual search following interruptions were expected to lead to more consistent in-vehicle glance durations and thus, on less severe distraction effects than Kinetic scrolling. The control theory of driving suggests that driver distraction can be analyzed as a breakdown of control at three levels. Abstract The purpose of this manuscript is to validate our recently developed novel optical approach for extraction of remote vibration sources as a successful technique to estimate the alcohol concentration in blood stream. This technique is based on the tracking of temporal changes of reflected secondary speckle patterns produced in human skin when being illuminated by a laser beam. International audience; In this paper we presents a platform based design approach for fast HW/SW embedded smart Advanced Driver Assistant System (ADAS) design and prototyping. Then, we share our experience in designing and prototyping a HW/SW vision based smart embedded system as an ADAS that helps to increase the safety of car's drivers. We present a physical prototype of the vision ADAS based on a Zynq FPGA. The system detects the fatigue state of the driver by monitoring the eyes closure and generates a real-time alert.
