Spatial and temporal variation of community composition and species cover following dune restoration in the Devesa de Albufera (Valencia, Spain).

Plant populations were reintroduced to the coastal dune bar of the Devesa de Albufera from 1988 to 2004; different coastline sections received different species composition and cover. With the aim to detect spatial and temporal variation of floristic diversity, we compared current species composition and cover across the length of the Devesa and across the dune bar with those imposed at the time of restoration. Non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMDS) detected significant differences both across the dune faces and across the coast sections. Sedimentary features reveal transport paths for Holocene sediments on the Kristianstad coastal plain, SE Sweden.

AbstractWe have investigated coastal and aeolian deposits on the Kristianstad plain in southernmost Sweden by a combination of methods that has yielded data on sedimentary features such as grain-size variations, shape and character of quartz grain surfaces (determined in light microscope and scanning electron microscope), and mineralogical composition. Such sedimentary techniques have been not applied to coastal deposits in this part of the Baltic Sea region before. The littoral, foredune and parabolic dune sands are sedimentologically similar, only a slight grain-size transformation by aeolian processes in the foredune was observed. A thorough understanding of neutrino cross sections in a wide range of energies is crucial for the successful execution of the entire neutrino physics program. In order to extract neutrino properties, long-baseline experiments need an accurate determination of neutrino cross sections within their detector(s). Neutrino interaction classification with a convolutional neural network in the DUNE far detector

2020

The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment is a next-generation neutrino oscillation experiment that aims to measure CP-violation in the neutrino sector as part of a wider physics program. A deep learning approach based on a convolutional neural network has been developed to provide highly efficient and pure selections of electron neutrino and muon neutrino charged-current interactions. The electron neutrino (antineutrino) selection efficiency peaks at 90% (94%) and exceeds 85% (90%) for reconstructed neutrino energies between 2–5 GeV. In this study we present the results of a seismic-stratigraphic analysis of sub-bottom profiles in the north-westernmost area of the Malta Plateau in order to define the depositional mechanisms for the upper Quaternary sequences. During this interval the morphology of the Malta Plateau was characterized by a ramp and bathymetries not exceeding 200 m. Two major unconformities, related to MIS 6 and MIS 2 (the latter corresponding to the Last Glacial Maximum, LGM), characterize the upper Quaternary sequences. Baudemont, le Pré-de-la-Bordonne (Saône-et-Loire) : sépultures et mobilier danubien de la première moitie du ve siècle

A necropolis at Baudemont (Saône-et-Loire) that was partially excavated in 1894 has revealed approximately fifteen graves datable to the end of the 4th and 5th centuries ad. Others seem to have been emptied during the first half of the 19th century. The discovery of a negative of the objects collected in 1894 indicates the pieces originating in the danubian area, which probably reflects the presence of a group of eastern Germans among those buried in the necropolis. These discoveries offer new perspectives on the Gallic context during the 5th century.
