Parent-child communication as a function of parental education, sex of parent and child and situational factors
1987
Parent-child communication was studied in different contexts (home vs laboratory, variation between and within the tasks, dyad vs triad). The subjects were 48 Finnish families with a four-year-old child. The families were divided into euqual groups of lower and higher parental education. The experiments were carried out in two stages: the first in the laboratory setting and the second in the laboratory setting or at home. The videotaped situations consisted of different cooperative tasks. The first result based on global ratings of dyads and triads (initiation/guidance, cooperation, emotionality) and on evaluation of parents’ teaching styles showed only minor differences in interactional me…
Exploring the perception of expressivity and interaction within musical dyads
2016
Bodily gestures in music performance play an important role in the perception and appreciation of music by the audience. Performance variations can be identified by observers even when no auditory cues are available; visual kinematic information has been demonstrated to be crucial in identifying expressive intentions. The current thesis explores violin dyads performing an unfamiliar song. High quality optical motion capture was employed to record full body movement. We applied the standard paradigm to study the perception of expressive performance. Our aim was to predict perceptual ratings of expressivity from movement computations. That is, to deduce secondary aspects of musical gestures, …
ARMONÍA DE PAREJA EN POBLACIÓN DE PERSONAS MAYORES: DIFERENCIAS ENTRE SEXOS
2016
Joint Alignment and Modeling of Correlated Behavior Streams
2013
The Variable Time-Shift Hidden Markov Model (VTS- HMM) is proposed for learning and modeling pairs of cor- related streams. Unlike previous coupled models for time series, the VTS-HMM accounts for varying time shifts be- tween correlated events in pairs of streams having different properties. The VTS-HMM is learned on a set of pairs of unaligned streams and, thus, learning entails simultaneous estimation of the varying time shifts and of the parameters of the model. The formulation is demonstrated in the analysis of videos of dyadic social interactions between children and adults in the Multimodal Dyadic Behavior Dataset (MMDB). In dyadic social interactions, an agent starts an interaction …
Determinants and consequences of auditor dyad formation at the top level of audit teams
2021
Abstract This study investigates the determinants and consequences of forming dyads at the top level of audit teams, i.e., dyads between concurring and lead auditor. We apply the sociological theory of homophily, i.e., the implicit preference for similar others, to hierarchically structured auditor dyads. Our regression analyses reveal that sharing the same gender and the same ethnicity, measured by dialect, increases the likelihood of dyad formation beyond what one would expect based on the characteristics of the pool of available auditors. Further, we observe that forming auditor dyads sharing the same age is avoided, suggesting that the need to establish a legitimate hierarchical relatio…
Resonant optical tunnel effect through dielectric structures of subwavelength cross sections.
1998
We show that optical tunnel effects through elongated structures of subwavelength cross sections can be enhanced by the appropriate structuration of the local dielectric function. Even under total internal reflection, transfer channels can be excited to perform spatially confined photonic transfer between transparent media linked by such subwavelength structures. The optical properties of such systems are analyzed using field susceptibilities, also known as electromagnetic Green's dyadics, which determine both the local density of photon states and the optical transmittance of the system. Green's dyadics obtained by solving numerically a set of dyadic Dyson equations are applied to study th…
Mutual learning: exploring collaboration, knowledge and roles in the development of recovery-oriented services. A hermeneutic-phenomenological study
2021
ABSTRACT Purpose The concept of recovery is commonly described as multifaceted and contested in the field of mental health and substance abuse. The aim of this study is to explore how understandings of recovery and recovery orientation of services are developed through daily practices and collaboration between service users and professionals. Methods Eight pairs of participants were interviewed together, in accordance with the dyadic interview method. The dyads/pairs consisted of service users and professional helpers. A collaborative hermeneutic-phenomenological analysis was used to analyse data. Results Data were analysed into three overarching and entangled themes, exploring how recovery…
A BASIC MODEL OF INTERACTING SUBJECTS
1980
Abstract In studying the problem of interaction between subjects, an approach which allows us to define in an unambiguous way the concepts of symmetrical, complementary and parallel interaction is proposed. This approach makes use of a point of view within which it is possible to develop a rational model based only on some fundamental elements of set theory and mathematical logic The model allows us to develop a probabilistic theory of change, the representation basis of which is furnished by the 16 basic set functions. The functions represent operations on two partially overlapping sets, which will be called the “worlds”, of interacting subjects.. Both an interaction test that allows a “me…
Emigracja a proces uczenia się małżonków
2022
Przeprowadzono badania biograficzne z wykorzystaniem autobiogra…
From telescope to binoculars. Dyadic outcome resulting from psychological counselling for infertile couples undergoing ART
2018
Objective This longitudinal study aims to evaluate the effect of psychological counselling on quality of life, marital satisfaction and need for parenthood in couples undergoing fertility treatments (ART). Background Recent guidelines on the ART suggest that psychological counselling should target both members of the infertile couple in order to improve their conjoint management of the infertility-related stress. However, studies on the dyadic outcome of couples are scarce. Methods 262 patients were originally considered in the study and completed questionnaires on quality of life, need for parenthood and marital satisfaction, before treatment (T1) and at the day of intrauterine inseminatio…
