Examination of Dyeing Properties on Silk of Some Flavonoids by Spectroscopic Techniques
2019
In this study, the silk fabrics mordanted at the rates of 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 6%, 9%, 12%, 14%, 18%, 21%, 24%, 27%, 30%, 33% and 36% of alum (KAl(SO4)2.12H2O) were separately dyed with chrysin, quercet...
Domowe sposoby farbowania włosów z wykorzystaniem surowców roślinnych
2022
Naturalną metodę farbowania włosów cechuje niższy potencjał alergizujący w stosunku do syntetycznej. Jednak biorąc pod uwagę ograniczenia kolorysty…
Indigon sinisestä kokenillin punaiseen : tekstiilivärjäyksessä käytettyjen luonnonväriaineiden tuonti Suomeen (1791–1856)
2022
Tutkimme ulkomaisten luonnonväriaineiden tuontia Suomeen 1790-luvun alusta 1850-luvun puoliväliin. Ajankohtaa voidaan luonnehtia murroskaudeksi väriaineiden käytön historiassa. Selvitämme mitä väriaineita Suomeen tuotiin, millaisia määriä, minneniitä tuotiin sekä mistä satamista väriainelastit olivat lähtöisin. Lähdeaineistomme perustan muodostavat Tanskan Juutinrauman tullitilit, joista on koostettu suomalaisia satamia koskeva tietokanta (FIN-STRO: 1560/1791–1856). Lähdepohjaa on täydennetty muulla tilastoaineistolla sekä laadullisella materiaalilla, kuten värjäysoppailla ja Kansalliskirjaston digitaalisella sanomalehtiarkistolla. Tutkimme erityisesti sinistä, punaista ja keltaista väriä t…
Characterization of methyl orange and its photocatalytic degradation products by HPLC/UV–VIS diode array and atmospheric pressure ionization quadrupo…
2002
Abstract HPLC/UV–VIS diode array and HPLC/MS techniques were successfully applied to the analysis of sulfonated molecules present in samples coming from the photocatalytic degradation of the azo dye indicator, methyl orange. The substrate was chosen as a simple model for the study of reactions involving the more complex commercial products used for the dyeing of textile fibers. Unexpected MS fragmentation path was observed, due to the very stable methyl orange molecular structure. The chromatographic information were combined with the obtained MS, MS/MS data and the UV–VIS diode array spectra and allowed to rationalize the molecular structures attributable to the various degradation product…
Effects of Different Test Setups on the Experimental Tensile Behaviour of Basalt Fibre Bidirectional Grids for FRCM Composites
2020
Fibre-reinforced cementitious matrix (FRCM) composites have been effectively used during the last ten years for the strengthening of existing concrete and masonry structures. These composite materials are made of medium- and high-strength fibre meshes embedded in inorganic matrices. Synthetic fibres are the ones that are currently the most used
Environmental impact of Recover cotton in textile industry
2017
A comparative evaluation of the life cycle assessment (LCA) of Recover cotton, obtained from recycled garments, and virgin one, cultivated from traditional and organic crops, has been made based on the quantification of environmental impact categories, such as abiotic depletion, global warming, water use, acidification and eutrophication potential. LCA data reported in the literature for the steps of cultivation, ginning/cutting, and dyeing were compared in order to clearly show the environmental advantages of moving from traditional practices, to organic cultivation and the use of Recover cotton, a novel procedure that involves the production of cotton yarns from coloured and well characte…
Effect of silane coupling treatment on the adhesion between polyamide and epoxy based composites reinforced with carbon fibers
2020
The increasing efforts aimed to design structures with reduced weight and better mechanical performances has led in recent years to a growing use of fiber reinforced polymer materials in several fields such as marine. However, these materials can be composed of chemically very different elements and, hence, may be difficult to joint. This research aims to improve the adhesion between a thermoplastic matrix of polyamide reinforced with short carbon fibers (PA12-CR) and a carbon fiber reinforced epoxy matrix (CFRP). Two different silane coupling agents, (3-Aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane (AM) and (3-Glycidyloxypropyl)trimethoxysilane (EP), were applied, through the spray deposition method, on th…
Characterization of Pigments from Malus domestica Leaves for Wool Dyeing
2021
The study will present results of chemical analysis of mass spectrometry, evaluating the content of pigments in M. domestica leaves dyeing solution and in dyed woollen yarn nowadays. Yarn was dyed with fresh leaves of M. domestica tree. Before dyeing the yarn was treated with potassium aluminium sulphate mordant. Dyestuffs from the yarn were extracted in compliance with modified hydrochloric method of hydrolysis. Extracts were analysed by ultra high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with a diode array detector and mass spectrometry (UHPLC-DAD-MS) for identification of the pigments. Phytochemical screening of dyeing solution of the M. domestica leaves showed presence of dihydrochalco…
Modular Paradigm for Composites: Modeling Hydrothermal Degradation of Glass Fibers
2021
Fiber-reinforced composite materials are often used in structural applications in humid, marine, and offshore environments. Superior mechanical properties are compromised by environmental ageing and hydrolytic degradation. Glass fibers are the most broadly used type of fiber reinforcement to date. However, they are also most severely affected by environmental degradation. The glass fiber degradation rates depend on: (1) glass formulation; (2) environmental factors: pH, T, stress; (3) sizing; (4) matrix polymer; (5) fiber orientation and composite layup. In this short review (communication), seven modules within the Modular Paradigm are reviewed and systematized. These modeling tools, encomp…
