2016
In this thesis, after an introduction where we briefly present the general context of Casimir physics, we present the results obtained during the PhD. At first, we show our work about the van der Waals/Casimir-Polder interactions between two atoms in an out-of-equilibrium condition due to their uniformly accelerated motion. We study the system of two uniformly accelerated atoms in vacuum space, when they are in their ground-state and when they are in a correlated state (one excited and one ground-state atom). We analyze this system both with an heuristic semiclassical model and with a more rigorous method, based on a separation of radiation reaction and vacuum fluctuations contributions, th…
2010
In the framework of commercial release for transgenic crops with novel traits, consequences of gene flow and introgression are still one main concern. I explored the ecological and evolutionary consequences of gene flow between oilseed rape (Brassica napus) and its wild relatives, brown mustard (B. juncea) and wild radish (Raphanus raphanistrum), through several experiments carried out in greenhouse, common garden and field in Beijing and Dijon. First, I revised a comprehensive review of the literature about gene flow and its effect on plant fitness in the Brassiceae. Second, I investigated the effects on gene flow of seed size of hybrids between Bt-transgenic oilseed rape and mustard. Smal…
DIVERSITE GENETIQUE ET PHENOLOGIE DE CYPERUS ESCULENTUS L. (CYPERACEAE) POUR UNE GESTION INTEGREE DE L'ESPECE DANS LES CULTURES DE HAUTE LANDE
2006
We studied the development, phenology, demography and genetic diversity of Cyperus esculentus (Cyperaceae), an invasive clonal perennial weed in the small-statured crops of Haute Lande, southwestern France. The goal was to understand its colonizing capacity and then make propositions for an integrated management of the species. The colonizing capacity of C. esculentus is linked to the huge subterranean vegetative development, with both foraging thanks to rhizomes and multiplication thanks to tubers. On the other hand, the local crop systems provide all the needs of the species: water, light and nutriments without competition by other weeds. Genetic analyses showed a low genetic diversity and…
2011
To develop solutions for a productive and sustainable agriculture, principles, theories, andmethods of ecology may contribute to understand the biological processes governing the agroecosystem. The present case study was based on data collected by a network of observatories of weeds covering the whole of France (‘Biovigilance Flore’) and aimed at establishing forrules governing the assemblage and dynamics of weed communities in fields grown with annual crops. We particularly studied the possible relationships between species within acommunity, as well as the relationships between communities and their environment. Analyses were based on species abundances to take account of their effect on c…
2012
This work is divided into two parts: (i) the theoretical study of the problem of adaptive sampling in Markov Random Fields (MRF) and (ii) the modeling of the problem of weed sampling in a crop field and the design of adaptive sampling strategies for this problem. For the first point, we first modeled the problem of finding an optimal sampling strategy as a finite horizon Markov Decision Process (MDP). Then, we proposed a generic algorithm for computing an approximate solution to any finite horizon MDP with known model. This algorithm, called Least-Squared Dynamic Programming (LSDP), combines the concepts of dynamic programming and reinforcement learning. It was then adapted to compute adapt…
2006
This PhD done in the Centre de Recherche de Climatologie, UMR 5210 CNRS of University of Burgundy has been supported by the Conseil Régional de Bourgogne, and the AASQA of Burgundy (Atmosf'Air). The ozone, a poison gas, is the core of this research because it is considered as one of the major worrying atmospheric pollutants in this region. We have conducted a study focused on hourly concentrations of measured ozone over several years for 12 stations. Their spatial and temporal variability are related to some features outside of the region (ground-level ozone, synoptic-scale conditions) and inside of the region (physical properties, land cover, meteorological features and precursor potential…
2020
A network of 96 hail pads is installed in Burgundy since 2014. Hailfalls in this part of France are mainly recorded from Avril to September and usually at the end of the afternoon when the surface air has been warmed enough to trigger an upward lift. Atmospherically speaking, hailfalls in Burgundy are associated with southward winds blowing from the Mediterranean Sea (Gulf of Lions) according to a strong negative barometric anomaly centered over Germany and extended southwestward until the south of Spain. A weak northwestward wind is at the same time also blowing until the northern part of Burgundy creating a thermal air-mass conflict and therefore a convective available potential energy wh…
