Thermodynamics, transport phenomena, and electrochemistry of external field-assisted nonthermal food technologies
2017
Interest in the development and adoption of nonthermal technologies is burgeoning within the food and bioprocess industry, the associated research community, and among the consumers. This is evident from not only the success of some innovative nonthermal technologies at industrial scale, but also from the increasing number of publications dealing with these topics, a growing demand for foods processed by nonthermal technologies and use of natural ingredients. A notable feature of the nonthermal technologies such as cold plasma, electrohydrodynamic processing, pulsed electric fields, and ultrasound is the involvement of external fields, either electric or sound. Therefore, it merits to study…
Vehicle localization based on scene perception
2021
The vision-based vehicle localization task is tackled as an image-based place recognition problem in this thesis. As image representation is an important process to place recognition, we proposed place recognition methods focusing on increasing the quality of image features. First, the dynamic object removal step is proposed to remove the dynamic objects, such as vehicles and pedestrians, of an image by semantic segmentation method and restore their background information by image inpainting method. Second, reducing instead of removing the noisy information of an image is proposed. Using the image blurring method to reduce the image noise, the performance of place recognition is improved wi…
Development of ultra-fast thulium-doped fiber lasers - Prospects for 2μm-nanophotonics.
2021
Developing highly coherent pulsed sources around the 2 µm wavelengthhas been a particularly dynamic field of research in the last couples of years, due to its numerous applications. In optical telecommunication, the wavelength rangearound 2 µm is one of the most promising solutions to increase the transmission capacitypast the current technological bottleneck. In this context, passively mode-lockedfiber lasers appear as a high potential solution for cheap laser sources, due to their veryhigh coherence and intrinsic compatibility with telecommunication systems.Passively mode-locked fiber lasers at 1,55 µm and their ultrafast dynamics is oneof the specialty of the ICB laboratory, and the aim i…
Study of nickel corrosion processes by molecular dynamics with reactive potential ReaxFF
2012
Understanding of corrosion processes is important for the study of the durability of materials in aggressive environment. The objective is to provide new lights on the corrosion processes of nickel in aqueous condition with molecular dynamics simulation using a reactive force field "ReaxFF."We are particularly interested by the reaction between water molecules and mono-crystalline surfaces of nickel. No dissociation of water was showed on the surfaces. Moreover, an adsorption of molecules in bilayer was observed, reflecting the mutual polarization between water and nickel, which confirms the charge calculation. The metal surface is positively charged and the first water layer charged negati…
Design of molecular imaging and theranostic agents for the detection and targeted therapy of cancers
2020
Despite significant advances in cancer detection and treatment, cancer is now the second leading cause of death worldwide. The aim of this thesis project was to design and optimize imaging agents for the diagnosis and/or therapy of various cancers. The first axis of this thesis focused on the development of a bimodal PET/fluorescence imaging agent capable of targeting neurotensin NTS1 receptors overexpressed in certain cancers. PET imaging would allow efficient detection of tumors and their metastases, while fluorescence imaging would facilitate the evaluation of tumor margins during surgery. Several compounds were synthesized, labelled with gallium-68 and studied in preclinical studies in a…
La dynamique des systèmes selon J.W. Forrester
2006
Experimental investigation and multi-scale modelling of the behavior of mechanically activated metallic powders : from binary systems to High Entropy…
2021
Generally, metal alloys consist of a main element associated with other elements present in smaller quantities such as iron, nickel, aluminum or copper alloys. The precise composition of an alloy is adjusted according to the required performance: high temperature behavior, corrosion resistance, mechanical properties, durability ... In 2004, a Taiwanese scientist, JW Yeh, had the idea of making an alloy base of several elements, at least 5, whose composition in the alloy varies between 5% and 30% at. Yeh invented the high entropy alloy (HEA). Mixed on a microscopic scale, the metals form a remarkably stable solid solution. The explanation is thermodynamic. An alloy is all the more stable as …
Microstructure-process relationship and reactivity at the nanoscale : a molecular dynamics study of Ni, Ni-Al, and Ti-Al metallic systems
2023
The process-microstructure relationship is central in materials science because the microstructure will determine the properties of the materials developed by the processes. In our work, we focused on different metallurgical processes by adopting a description at the atomic scale. This approach allows us to detect the elementary mechanisms that are at the origin of the observed microstructures without having to postulate macroscopic mechanisms or estimate the associated parameters. In this respect, molecular dynamics simulations provide a tool for "in-situ" observation of metallic systems as long as an atomic interaction potential is available. The originality of our approach consists in mo…
Avantages comparatifs et dynamiques de spécialisation : le cas des pays africains.
2021
In this thesis we analyze the mechanisms linking trade openness and industrialization patterns. We are particularly interested in developing countries, especially those belonging to the African continent, because of their particular form of production specialization— essentially based on agricultural and mining products. Our goal is to better understand the evolution of these forms of specialization in order to identify possible paths of industrial development. Chapter 1 provides a comprehensive overview of the literature on the theoretical determinants of international specialization and pays particular attention to theories emphasizing a dynamic view of comparative advantage. This chapter…
Influence of interaction techniques o n VIMS in virtual environments : estimation and prediction
2014
Understanding oculo-vestibular dynamics during sensory rearrangement in the central nervous system plays an extremely important role in better understanding human perception, and improves the technology in many engineering fields. Besides, the sensory conflict that occurs between ocular, vestibular and proprioception during sensory rearrangement at certain occasions might adversely affect the user performance in a wide variety of domains including flight/car simulators, scale-one 3D systems, large-scale displays, serious games, and so on. Therefore, knowing the condition in which the sensory conflict happens has a great deal of importance. This study aims at understanding the nature of sens…
