Shift- and scale-invariant recognition of contour objects with logarithmic radial harmonic filters.

The phase-only logarithmic radial harmonic (LRH) filter has been shown to be suitable for scale-invariant block object recognition. However, an important set of objects is the collection of contour functions that results from a digital edge extraction of the original block objects. These contour functions have a constant width that is independent of the scale of the original object. Therefore, since the energy of the contour objects decreases more slowly with the scale factor than does the energy of the block objects, the phase-only LRH filter has difficulties in the recognition tasks when these contour objects are used. We test the motives expressed by the managers to use the non-financial indicators so that the performance of the fi rm would increase. Is that really the main reason explaining the choice of the non-financial indicators ? Our study is based on a theoretical research distinguishing the Knowledge-based perspective from the Contractual one. Is that distinction relevant ? Within this framework, is it possible to discriminate firms types according to their use of the nonfinancial indicators ?
The Effect of Long-Term Memory Knowledge on Rehearsal and Refreshing in Working Memory

It was suggested that the impact of long-term knowledge on short-term memory (STM) could either be at encoding and maintenance or at recall (Thorn, Frankish, & Gathercole, 2009). In two experiments, we manipulated the characteristics of long-term knowledge through word-frequency or lexicality. We also varied the implication of the mechanisms of maintenance, refreshing or rehearsal. First, the effect of long-term knowledge on refreshing was investigated manipulating frequency of words to remember and attentional load of the concurrent processing.
