Are altruistic leaders worthy? The role of organizational learning capability
2015
Purpose– The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between altruistic leader behaviors, organizational learning capability and organizational performance.Design/methodology/approach– The sampling frame consists of several databases or listings of business that consider people as a key element of the organization and are considered by their employees to be good firms to work for or organizational environments where human resources management has high priority (n=251). The authors use structural equation modeling to test if the relationship between altruistic leader behaviors and organizational performance is mediated by organizational learning capability.Findings– Results …
Explaining knowledge intensive firms’ performance through internal factors: evidence from an IT consulting firm
2022
Our research contributes to knowledge-intensive firms research streams. We propose an explanation of their performance based on organizational design theory and the resource-based view. Through a case study on an IT consulting firm in France, we examined the impact of a coherent organizational architecture and a cognitive asset on the performance of the firm. The results show a complementarity between a coherent organizational design and a meticulously formed and maintained human resources asset to explain the performance of an IT consulting firm.
Institutionalization of technology transfer organizations in Chinese universities
2015
There is a lack of in-depth studies on how technology transfer organizations (TTOs) are organized and developed. This paper examines the evolution/institutionalization of TTOs in Tsinghua University (TU), as a microcosm of the development of TTOs in Chinese universities. It explores two issues in particular: what kinds of TTOs have been developed in TU and why some organizational forms become more institutionalised than others. In so doing, an analytical framework is developed by synthesizing the literature on organizational innovation and institutionalization. The analysis is based on extensive review of academic literature and policy documents, as well as on face-to-face interviews with p…
Towards a novel conceptual framework for understanding mergers in higher education
2015
ABSTRACTThis paper tries to develop a conceptual framework for a comprehensive understanding of the merger process, which is regarded as a matter of institutionalization of organizational innovation. In the framework, a number of factors affecting merger process or institutionalization of merger are identified, such as those related to environmental issues, economic benefits, institutional compatibility and human agency. The framework hopefully narrows our knowledge gap on theorizing innovation process, in general, and university merger, in particular. It also has a potential to better assist decision-makers and managers in planning and implementing university mergers.
Asymmetric modeling of organizational innovation
2015
[EN] This study revisits the theory, data, and analysis in Hervas-Oliver and Sempere-Ripoll (2014) and applies fuzzyset qualitative comparative analysis (fs/QCA) to organizational innovation effects and the influence on them of technological innovations. The influence of technological innovations (product and process) on organizational innovation and its effects is an inconclusive debate. Using fuzzy set comparative qualitative analysis (fs/QCA) on Hervas-Oliver and Sempere-Ripoll’s (2014) 9,369 organizational innovators, the present study offers more complex and nuanced antecedent conditions relating to organizational innovation beyond Hervas-Oliver and Sempere-Ripoll (2014) analysis based…
Conceptual Characterization of Cybersecurity Ontologies
2020
Part 7:Risk and Security Modeling; International audience; Cybersecurity is known as the practice of protecting systems from digital attacks. Organizations are seeking efficient solutions for the management and protection of their assets. It is a complex issue, especially for great enterprises, because it requires an interdisciplinary approach. The kinds of problems enterprises must deal with and this domain complexity induces misinterpretations and misunderstandings about the concepts and relations in question. This article focus on dealing with Cybersecurity from an ontological perspective. The first contribution is a search of previously existing works that have defined Cybersecurity Ont…
Torque Control During Intrusion on Upper Central Incisor in Labial and Lingual bracket System - A 3D Finite Element Study
2018
Background The aim of present study was to investigate the difference of torque control during intrusive force on upper central incisors with normal, under and high torque in lingual and labial orthodontic systems through 3D finite element analysis. Material and methods Six 3D models of an upper right central incisor with different torque were designed in Solid Works 2006. Software ANSYS Version 16.0 was used to evaluate intrusive force on upper central incisor model . An intrusive force of 0.15 N was applied to the bracket slot in different torque models and the displacements along a path of nodes in the upper central incisor was assessed. Results On application of Intrusive force on under…
Biomechanical Study of the Osteoporotic Spine Fracture: Optical Approach
2021
Background and objectives: Osteoporotic spine fractures represent a significant factor for decreasing quality of life in the elderly female population. Understanding the mechanisms involved in producing these fractures can improve their prevention and treatment. This study presents a biomechanical method to produce a vertebral fracture, conducted on a human spine segment, observing the displacements and strains in the intervertebral disc, endplate, and vertebral body. Materials and Methods: We performed two tests, one corresponding to an extension loading, and the second to an axial loading. Results: The maximum displacement in the target vertebral body presented higher values in the case o…
Microstructure alterations of rotary files after multiple simulated operative procedures.
2009
Aim: To assess morphological alterations of ProTaper rotary NiTi files before and after continuous use by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Study Design: 30 root canals were chosen with an angle between 15 and 30º. Before starting to prepare the canals the files were observed microscopically using a scanning electronic microscope. The ProTaper sequence recommended by the manufacturer was used, with NaOCl as irrigant. The instruments were sterilised after every three canals were shaped. The instruments were observed with the same microscope after shaping each canal, until 30 root canals were shaped. The criteria used for checking the instruments were: blunt cutting edges, disruption of cut…
