Hemangiopericytoma of the Lung - a Rare Differential Diagnosis of Lung Tumors

The authors report of a 50 year old woman who was operated on because of a rectum carcinoma 5 years ago. At a follow-up examination a 2 x 2 x 1 cm sized tumor was found in the lower lobe of the right lung. Under the diagnosis of lung metastasis after rectum carcinoma resection, operation (wedge resection) was carried out. The histological examination revealed the rare tumor hemangiopericytoma. Based on this case, frequency of the tumor, clinical symptoms, surgical treatment, prognosis as well as recurrence rate and formation of metastases are discussed.

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is one of the most common therapies for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). We present a brief, patient-reported outcome measure used to assess patients' levels of adherence with CPAP treatment.A questionnaire was developed based on academic literature. We qualitatively tested a pool of 18 items. It was tested in a sample of 174 patients from the Hospital La Princesa. Next, 1021 patients from Catalonia were evaluated.5 items were removed. Cardiopulmonary function in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension can almost be normalized by pulmonary endarterectomy. The procedure involves the removal of organized and incorporated fibrous obstructive tissue from the pulmonary arteries during circulatory arrest under deep hypothermia. Mortality rates reported for patients who have undergone pulmonary endarterectomy range from 4 to 24%. The operation is not an embolectomy but a true endarterectomy. An Algebraic Approach to Knowledge Representation

This paper is an attempt to apply domain-theoretic ideas to a new area, viz. knowledge representation. We present an algebraic model of a belief system. The model consists of an information domain of special kind (belief algebra) and a binary relation on it (entailment). It is shown by examples that several natural belief algebras are, essentially, algebras of flat records. With an eye on this, we characterise those domains and belief algebras that are isomorphic to domains or algebras of records. For illustration, we suggest a system of axioms for revision in such a model and describe an explicit construction of what could be called a maxichoise revision.

We show that the discriminant/image of a stable perturbation of a germ of finite \(\mathcal {A}\)-codimension is a hypersurface with the homotopy type of a wedge of spheres in middle dimension, provided the target dimension does not exceed the source dimension by more than one. The number of spheres in the wedge is called the discriminant Milnor number/image Milnor number. We prove a lemma showing how to calculate this number, and show that when the target dimension does not exceed the source dimension, the discriminant Milnor number and the \(\mathcal {A}\)-codimension obey the “Milnor–Tjurina relation” familiar in the case of isolated hypersurface singularities.
