Standards Initiatives for Software Product Line Engineering and Management within the International Organization for Standardization

2010

Software product line engineering is an established methodology for fast and effective development of software-intensive systems and services. To reap maximum benefits from the methodology, businesses typically need to implement coordinated changes in development methodologies, tools, product architectures, organizational designs, and business models. Product lines are developed in complex international software ecosystems, but there is no coordinated set of international standards for defining and leveraging the methodology. As a result, ecosystems cannot adopt standardized methods and tools for developing product lines, tool vendors face difficulties in developing tools to enable product …

Soil Knowledge

2016

Soil being a crypt-resource, that is a hidden resource, it is considered entirely important only when environmental disasters happen. Therefore, it would be necessary to change the paradigm that ties the man to the soil, trying to consider it as a known resource to be managed and protected always and everywhere. The soil should not be manipulated, but it should be managed. To achieve this aim, we need to know it completely. An initial identikit includes salient features that historically the men always looked at: a good depth, a balanced texture, a reaction of the soil tending to neutral, a good stiffness, a good level of organic matter and elements of fertility.

Definition, Tasks and Legal Nature of the Compliance Function

2015

This chapter addresses the compliance function under art. 46, para. 1 of the Solvency II Directive. The first items to be addressed here are the normative bases of compliance under the insurance supervisory regime and its conceptual content. Then, the tasks and relevant requirements for compliance under the insurance supervisory regime are identified. The chapter concludes by examining the function of compliance under the insurance supervisory regime of the Solvency II system.

“Sensing” the destination: Development of the destination sensescape index

2021

Abstract Despite the increasing academic interest in the sensory dimension of the tourist experience, the quantitative empirical research in the field is limited by a lack of measurement instruments for evaluating the sensory stimuli perceived by tourists during a destination visit. The study addresses this gap by developing a composite index to assess the sensory destination panorama, termed as “destination sensescape”. The construct is conceptualised as a formative multidimensional variable with 5 dimensions (visualscape, smellscape, tastescape, soundscape, and hapticscape). The psychometric validity and reliability of the 17 items integrating the formative index were established by a rig…

TIME : A Translator Compiler for CIS

2002

To build a Cooperative Information System, a first step is to collect schemas of each local database. All the schemas exported from databases are translated and integrated into a cooperative schema, which is used by the final user to query the cooperation “transparently”. In this article, we focus on the definition of tools that are used to build and manage cooperative information systems. These tools enable the automatic or semi-automatic generation of specific translators. The first step of our methodology is a knowledge acquisition step that allows for the data model description of each local database. The second step is to compare all these descriptions in order to organize the correspo…

The southernmost beech (Fagus sylvatica) forests of Europe (Mount Etna, Italy): ecology, structural stand-type diversity and management implications

2013

The southernmost European beech forests are located in the upper forest vegetation belt on Mount Etna volcano. Their standstructural patterns were analysed to assess the effects of the site-ecological factors and previous management practices on the forest structure. Five main structural-silvicultural types were identified among the main beech forest types: coppice, highmountain coppice (HMCo), high forest, coppice in conversion to high-forest and non-formal stand. A detailed standstructural analysis was carried out through measured dendrometric parameters and derived structural characters linked to both the horizontal and the vertical profiles. Plant regeneration processes were also assess…

Oral health knowledge, attitudes and practice in 12-year-old schoolchildren

2007

Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the association between knowledge, attitudes and practice of oral health in 12-year-old schoolchildren, and to analyse the findings in terms of the conventional KAP health-education model and of the critical approach. Study design: This study has a cross sectional design. The study participants were 1105 randomly selected 12-year-old children resident in the region of Galicia in Spain. For data collection, five teams of one dentist and one assistant were formed. The dentist carried out the physical examination and the assistant helped the subjects to answer the questionnaire. Knowledge, attitudes and practice were assessed, as well as ora…

Integration of Spatial processing and knowledge Processing through the Semantic Web Stack

2011

International audience; This paper presents the integration process of spatial technologies and Semantic Web technologies and its associated tool. The result of this work is a spatial query and rule engine of spatial. To do so, existing ontology with spatial elements is adjusted in order to process the spatial knowledge through spatial technologies. This paper outlines the methods and the processes of these adjustments and how results are returned by our tool. The SWRL and the SPARQL language are extended for spatial purpose and the existing OWL ontology wine is used as an application example.

A red-edge spectral index for remote sensing estimation of green LAI over agroecosystems

2013

Abstract Leaf area index (LAI) is a key biophysical parameter for the monitoring of agroecosystems. Conventional two-band vegetation indices based on red and near-infrared relationships such as the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) are well known to suffer from saturation at moderate-to-high LAI values (3–5). To bypass this saturation effect, in this work a robust alternative has been proposed for the estimation of green LAI over a wide variety of crop types. By using data from European Space Agency (ESA) campaigns SPARC 2003 and 2004 (Barrax, Spain) experimental LAI values over 9 different crop types have been collected while at the same time spaceborne imagery have been acquir…

Spectral moments of the edge adjacency matrix in molecular graphs. 3. Molecules containing cycles

1998

A substructural approach to quantitative structure−property relationships based on the spectral moments of the edge adjacency matrix is extended to molecules containing cycles. Spectral moments are expressed as linear combinations of structural fragments of any kind of nonweighted graphs. The boiling points of a series of 80 cycloalkanes was well-described by the present approach. The predictive power of the model was proved by using a test set of another 26 compounds. An equation that expresses the contribution of the different fragments of the molecules to the boiling point was obtained.
